"Great team, very professional and efficient. Everyone seemed to know exactly what had to be done and how. I found their pricing to be competitive. The task was completed in a day (traditional split-level ranch house, 28 sq ft roof) and so far, I think they have done a good job. The day before they had a dumpster brought to our driveway and some materials delivered. Then on D-day, a large team showed up on time, took away the old roof, installed ice and water shield, roof underlayment, drip and rake edge starter strip, replaced boots, installed GAF shingles, ridge vent and roofing caps, reflashed chimney, installed 2" insulation on sunroom area, and taped all seams."

"I was blown away by Weathertite Roofing in Bethlehem. I used them in November. I called and was surprised to reach a polite office manager after one ring (which is always the case whenever I call). They operate out of a well-run office with several employees. The company has been in business for over 20 years, it is a very smooth, well-oiled machine. The owner, Scott Fennelly, evaluates the job and comes prepared with satellite images and measurements of the roof. On the scheduled roofing day, an army of polite, hard-working, cheerful, considerate, men arrive punctually very early and my small roof was done in one day. The permits, dumpster, materials etc. are all taken care of, and the clean up is done with a magnet to pick up stray nails which can get in car tires or lawn mowers. A foreman is assigned to the job. If only all companies worked like this! It is an unbelievable hands- on, old -fashioned well-managed company with strong customer and work values. Their prices are reasonable and compatible with other companies. After the roof was done, I noticed the area around Bethlehem has many of their signs out in front of homes they work on. When I raved about them, it turned out Weathertite is well-known in the community to be excellent. There is a reason the company does most roofs around here! They really went the extra mile! I would give them more stars if I could! Truly, do not hesitate to use them."

"It had been 25 years since I last replaced my roof. After doing some research I received five bids. Flying Colors was competitive. Chris came and walked on my roof, took pictures, and expressed concern regarding my chimney bricks. He also told me that I did not need to replace my gutters. I accepted the bid including roof replacement and chimney repair. On Friday, the mason came and replaced all the bricks from the roof-line up. The next day, Chris, Mario, and the crew came to do the roof. They took great care in protecting my landscaping, although a few flowers and bushes were affected, but not destroyed. The roof was completed in ONE DAY. I needed multiple sheets of plywood, but I knew the possibility ahead of time. Upon going up in the attic after completion, I noticed some detritus from the roof was scattered all over. I called Chris, and he came over a week later and personally swept out a garbage full of debris. Although I never interacted with Steve, his associates did a top-notch job. I highly recommend this company."

"I wanted my roof to look better and needed someone to kill off some moss, lichens and darkening stains on the roof. The crew did a great job. Very professional. Cleaned up perfectly at the end. I really appreciate they used non-chlorine bleach to kill all growths. Living on a lake, it was very important to me that they not add any phosphates or chlorine to the lake water. They even patched a roof leak! I would heartily recommend Roof Renew Pros."

"The crew of 6 did a great job! Everyone worked as a team from the start of the job until they finished. The job was done in one day stripping two roofs, replacing some plywood and install new roof. The crew did a fine job with the clean up at the end of day."

"I rarely write an online review, but the work done on my house was so high quality that I feel compelled to write something.  Simply put, anyone who is going to have work done on their roof should hire Advanced Roofing.  The owner of Advanced Roofing is Dave Hand.  Dave was very quick to take an initial look at my roof and give an assessment of what the next steps should be.  We scheduled this consultation through his wife Kathy, who I believe is the office manager of Advanced Roofing.  She is very competent, and was helpful throughout the entire process. <br /> It was readily apparent from Dave's initial assessment that he was both an honest person and knew his trade inside and out.  We came to the conclusion that the best course of action was to install a new roof.  My house is 5,300 square feet and has a complex roof structure.  Dave guided me through what the job would entail, to the point that I felt comfortable that he and his team could handle the job.  He provided me a quote for the job that was very reasonable, along with a  comprehensive list of the work that would be performed. <br /> Within a short period of time, we scheduled a time for Dave and his crew to start the job.  The foreman of the on-site work, whose name is Freddy, was indispensable throughout the process.  I was very lucky to have these two professionals guide the work.  The job itself was done incredibly efficiently, but with great attention to detail.  It took roughly a week for the roof to be installed -- a very short period of time given the size and complexity of the roof, along with the fact that there were two days of rain.  The crew made sure that after every day of work they thoroughly cleaned up the worksite.  In addition, they arrived promptly in the morning and worked the full day through.  Dave, Freddy, and their crew were very respectful of my family and were happy to answer any questions we had.  I got regular updates on progress throughout the day from Dave.  He was on top of things the entire time. <br /> The roof installation was completed yesterday, and it looks fantastic.  It makes my whole house look remarkably better.  Along with being a true professional, someone who has honed his craft over three decades, Dave is a quality human being who is great to talk to.  My whole family enjoyed being around him.  I can say the same thing about his whole crew.  <br /> I was concerned that such a big project would inevitably bring complications and cost overruns, but neither happened.  Overall, it was the best experience I can remember having with a contractor, and I can not recommend Dave and Advanced Roofing highly enough. <br />"

"Wow! This company, and especially Yuriy, knows the true meaning of customer service. Yuriy was Project Mgr 7 years ago when RIGA installed a beautiful new roof on my house. My town screwed up and never closed the permit, and I needed Yuriy to help me resolve the issue as my house was going to settlement in 4 days. Even though the work was done 7 years ago, Yuriy acted quickly to contact the supplier, gathered information and evidence of a professional and to-code installation, and persuaded my town building dept to close the permit. That is fantastic customer service!! Thank you, Yuriy."

"So glad I contacted Albana Roofing to install my new roof. Got multiple quotes for this project and their price was the best along with the amount of work being offered. Every step of the way they had covered and they were available for discussion on all aspects of the roof at any time. We also had to change the original date because of the weather and the reschedule was easy. The install itself couldn't have gone better. Sonny and his crew are complete professionals and very good at what they do. They are a family business who care about the job being done right and well. The roof looks great and I couldn't be more pleased with the process. Highly recommend giving them a call if you need any type of roof work done."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Ridgefield, CT

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
