"They know the business. We were asked to take pictures of the outside of the house, showing the windows. From this they developed a quote and we agreed to have them do the windows. He arrived on time, was very efficient and did a great job. He suggested a product for us to use to remove mold or mildew from our sidewalks, window wells, etc. We purchased the product from Amazon and it did a great job. We decided to have them back in the Spring to just do the outside of the windows."

"I previously had all windows in my home replaced by NuVue and was extremely disappointed in the quality of work. I found RWT Windows on Nextdoor and could not be happier! First and foremost, Rick at RWT does not use subcontractors. A window is only as good as the installer, so NEVER use a company that utilizes subcontractors. RWT did a great job at insulating and cleaned up and were very professional. I would highly recommend RWT."

"I utilized Craftsman Electric to perform updates to ungrounded outlets in a home I was purchasing, as well as updating other outdated wiring throughout the home. The services performed exceeded expectations, and I plan to utilize their services in the future. Their customer services is the industry standard, and I greatly appreciate the work they performed on my home. "

"They did an excellent job since the house looks really nice and professional lit up now at night! Mark had good ideas on how best to light the house. And Herbert did a great job with the installation. He even had to bore under a sidewalk but did that with no problem given his many years of experience. I liked the service and would use them again if needed."

"The Assured Construction team helped us transform a drab two season sun porch into a four-season sanctuary. The team brought all the things you look for in a contractor and more – highly skilled and creative craftsman, strong communicators, and respectful house guests who cleaned up each evening before wrapping up for the day. The Assured team were thoughtful partners who offered meaningful solutions as we bumped into old home unknowns. As the project came to life the kind people who shared our home with us over several months became friends. More than a year later when we had a warranty issue with new windows, the team walked every step of the way with us to see that it was fully resolved. We highly recommend this amazing team!"

"Moving forward with the times, I found myself in need of a new outlets in my garage to charge electric vehicles. Unfortunately, the panel was in my finished basement, and on the side of the house opposite the garage. Matthew came over and immediately saw a solution. He claimed the wires could be run cleverly without the need to disassemble any drywall. I was skeptical, but intrigued. I decided to go for it. Today, he came over with two helpers to install the required outlets. I was amazed by how well it went. Not everything went smoothly, but these three seemed to welcome any challenge. They thought their way around the issues, ran the wires, and connected it all up. I was impressed by how well they all worked together. At the end of the job and cleaned up leaving no evidence of their visit other than 2 shiny new outlets eagerly awaiting the future. The entire experience was painless, and I am as happy as anyone could be with new outlets. From now on, I will only call Mr. Electric for any electrical needs. Highly recommended."

"We hired Guardian to install our security system at our Washington, DC, business. The service and quality of the work was horrible. We had cameras and an alarm system installed; it was a relatively large system. They outsource most of the work to various vendors. They could not manage their vendors; what was supposed to take a week took two months. The sales rep did not return calls, and you could never get anyone in management on the phone. Random people would show up at unannounced times. The few things that an actual Guardian employee did were they made a huge mess of our newly remodeled office and were rude to our staff. We have offices in five markets across the US and have high security at each; we have never had such a poor experience."

FAQs for generator repair projects in Ross, OH

There is often some confusion about the type of work these professionals do. They only work on electrical systems such as outlets, lighting fixtures and electrical panels – they aren’t appliance repairmen.

There are three types of electricians: Master, Journeyman and Apprentice. Electrical licensing varies quite a bit by state. Some have licenses for apprentices and some do not. Some have a master’s rank while others stop at journeyman. Despite the differences, they all require a minimum amount of experience and usually classroom time.

  • Apprentice electricians aren’t usually licensed and spend 4 years learning the trade. Throughout that time, they work on a wide range of projects to learn to become a Journeyman. They’ll do basic work like installing fixtures and replacing outlets all the way to assisting in wiring a home. Regardless of the type of project, they must always be supervised by a Journeyman or Master electrician.

  • Journeymen work without supervision. In a few states, this is the highest level available and they can do all levels of work from wiring a new home to installing a light. In some states, they need a separate electrical contractor license to run a business. In places with a master’s level, a journeyman can do all work besides design new electrical systems.

  • Master electricians usually manage a shop, design new electrical systems in new construction and oversee both Journeyman and Apprentices. They typically bid new projects. Though they focus on larger projects, it’s not unheard of for a homeowner to request a Master Electrician for a house call. If you do, expect to spend up to 25% more for the visit.

Generally, you don’t tip electricians, but that’s not to say they don’t appreciate it if you do. You can offer them something to drink or eat, like coffee and donuts. Most will appreciate it if you do.

The education and certifications required to become an electrician vary by state, though they generally follow this list:

  1. Apprentice

    • Does not always require a license depending on the state.

    • Learns on the job under Journeyman and Master Electricians.

    • Usually needs 4 years on-the-job training before they can test for a Journeyman license. Many states also require a technical degree to advance.

    • Always require supervision.

  2. Journeyman

    • Needs between 8,000 to 10,000 hours of on-the-job training and usually 500 to 1,000 hours of classroom experience.

    • Can usually supervise apprentices.

    • They can diagnose and repair electrical problems.

  3. Master

    • Achieved after an additional two years (4,000 hours) working as a Journeyman and taking the Master Electrician Exam.

    • Besides diagnosing and repairing electrical systems, they also design them. In most places they run shops and inspect Journeyman and Apprentice work.

    • Not a recognized rank in all states.

  4. Electrical Contractor License is an optional license in some states for a Master Electrician to run a business. Some states have this instead of the Master license.

Electricians make an average of $26 per hour but it ranges with experience and licensing. An apprentice may make about half that while a Master Electrician may hit closer to $40 per hour. This figure represents how much they make; not how much they bill. Their salary is only one component of their costs. They must also figure in overhead, taxes, equipment, insurance and several other expenses.

Leave electrical work to the professionals. Electrical systems are complex and potentially hazardous when not handled and installed correctly. If it were easy, it wouldn’t take 4 years to become a journeyman or 6 years for a master’s license. If you are determined to forge ahead yourself, understand home electrical safety before beginning any project.Even for simple common electrical projects, a licensed pro is best. Not only is it safer, but contractors guarantee and insure their work. Hire a professional to keep your home’s electrical systems functioning properly and safely.
