"The men were here days before we were scheduled because they had time to complete the job. Personable and extremely hard working. They never took a break. Quote for the work that had to be done was extremely reasonable. Great job. We had Canby Roof Masters in the past and would never go with anyone else. Top Notch. Pride in the work done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Larabee roofing did a good job. After the repair, he walked over the rest of the roof. He tapped in several loose staples and gave me an assessment of the condition of the overall roof."

"We feel so fortunate that a friend told us about Mayberry Roofing. First, they give us the best price out of all the estimates we got. Second, they performed high quality work, the roof looks awesome, and the work was done quickly. However, the most important aspect of the job was how honest and trustworthy Steve and his employees are. They were knowledgeable and upfront about everything from day one, and delivered on everything they said they would do. We could not have asked for a better experience!"

"The repairs were done quickly once we made it to the top of the list and could have been completed in one day. There were more areas found once the repairs were started but they stuck with the original quote once I reminded them that I had asked about the low estimate. They found additional work that will still need to be done in the next few months and they provided pictures to explain the new finding. Their verbal estimate for those repairs are around $600 but I have yet to receive a written quote. I have to admit I was very frustrated with the lack of communication. I understand that there was a list of people who needed repairs done ahead of us and that most roofing company's are busy during the summer months, but several of the e mails or phone calls I made were not returned or very slow to be returned. All I wanted was a better estimated date or some form of communication. Our contract was signed in July and our repairs were not completed until the end of September. It was at least two months no communication initiated by them. I had to make the calls and few were returned. Not sure if I will hire again or not. The service person who was here did a wonderful job, but their communication (or lack of) was a huge dissatisfier."

"We had major roof damage following the February 2021 ice storm. Our roof was littered with large oak branches that broke trusses and damaged sheeting. Glen responded immediately, helped me do some cleanup and immediately performed temporary repairs to prevent leaking. Glen was able to give us a brand new roof in two days and gave us a great price based on reports from some of our neighbors who used other companies. Plus, the fact that Glen uses only the highest quality components and don't even ask him to use cheaper products, because he won't. You will not regret hiring Malone Construction for the job!"

"This is a review for indoor  painting work done for us by Moon Construction We did a partial remodel of our house, following up on mold remediation that we had to do, and then wound up painting the whole house for what I thought was a very reasonable price. I’m so glad we did and we are very happy with the results! Marco and his crew do top notch work. He did a beautiful job with the painting and his prep work is excellent. We had cracks all over our walls and ceilings (the house is almost 100 years old) and Marco made them look new. He is meticulous with caulking and filling holes and even taking off doors to sand if they don’t fit right. The final product is such a joy and it’s great to be back in our home and able to look around and enjoy the paint job. Highly recommended!"

"I first had a leaky roof in the fall of 2020. I called Woods Roofing and they were here within 2 hours. They patched the leak, and thankfully there were no issues after that, even after a hair-raising winter. It was obvious it was time for a new roof, and they were able to schedule me in early March 2021. The estimate was really reasonable, and we knew it would cost slightly more as some of the boards needed replacing. The new roof looks fantastic, and Micah and his partner couldn't have been more thorough and professional. As long as I live in this area I will never look to anyone else - 5 stars!!!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Salem, OR

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
