"System Pavers is HIGHLY motivated and well optimized to make the sale – but they WILL NOT stand behind their “system.” If/when problems develop (even due to their own failures), you are on your own. After a very high-pressure sales pitch (disguised as a “design meeting”) with all the accoutrements (fancy PowerPoint demonstration, a copy of their very large surety bond, commitments that they will stand behind us, and a “discount” that magically expired the same day), System Pavers completed our $72k backyard paver project in September 2021. Over the next few weeks, the pavers began to separate, sag, and “crown.” Also, the drainage in many areas was toward the house, not away from it. They did come back a couple of times to remove pavers, recompact, and reset. However, when failures continued, they asked us to let the system fail for another year so they would only have to do a major rehabilitation once. When that year elapsed, they were nowhere to be found. Very difficult to get them to come back out. Then, instead of fixing the failed system, they had a soils engineer evaluate. The engineer’s report confirmed they did not properly prepare the subgrade. They recently sent an email essentially saying they didn’t want to keep spending money on their failed system. They also claimed the warrantee would not cover the repairs. They are simply walking away, leaving us with an unsafe, embarrassing backyard and a worthless major investment. What a joke. PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY."

"Cesar was a real pro! He did a superb job on the giant tiles (2'x4' weighing 35 lbs each!) we used on the shower walls and the bathroom floor. We had a very limited supply and he made sure nothing was wasted. He even corrected oversights which our general contractor missed. We highly recommend him!"

"The contractor failed to complete the job, a bathroom restoration. The shower door was never installed. I contacted the contractor on over five occasions, attempting to persuade the contractor to complete this work, but neither he nor his team ever appeared again on my property. All amounts requested by the contractor have been paid."

"Armando of Arsa was one of the original builders on our Mediterranean/Spanish Revival custom house in Pebble Beach back in 2004. He led a team of skilled craftsmen who essentially built and installed everything after the frame of the house was up. He did an outstanding job in the tilework, brickwork, stonework, installation of marble flooring and stone inlay, along with the stucco finish of the exterior and interior walls. Since 2004, I have called on his expertise to help with anything and everything - small repairs such as rebuilding a fence after a storm to larger repairs like roof leaks. I have worked with a number of contractors and handymen over the years in the Monterey/Pebble Beach area as well as the San Francisco Bay Area, and as many may know, it's challenging to find a quality and trustworthy contractor (or handymen who pride themselves on meticulous, quality, long-lasting craftsmanship). Armando prides himself in doing good work and for a licensed contractor, you won't find better than his rates. He is hardworking, meticulous, responsive, responsible. He is up for any job, from the most simple to the most intricate using high end building materials. Apart from new construction, he is a sharp and thoughtful problem solver for home repairs, remodeling and renovations. Example of his work, ethics, and problem solving abilities:For the past 2 years, we have had a roof leak in the living room with water stains finding their way down interior walls. After consulting 4 roofers (one was the original roofer of our house and couldn't figure out the problem, another said he would help but then was never heard from again despite multiple phone calls, and yet another who tried to diagnose the issue could not ever find the actual root of the problem), I finally asked for Armando's help. I was initially skeptical he would be able to come up with a solution after the 4 previous roofers failed to do so. It took him less than hour to think through the issue and we decided to test his solution on small part of the roof (as a cost-saving measure so as not to do repair on the entire roof perimeter in case it was not the solution). The repair was painstaking - little by little hand chiseling out the stucco at the second story wall right above the roof flashing of the first story, waterproof it and then re-stuccoing the perimeter wall. More evidence of the integrity he holds for his work is matching the exact color and texture of the stucco - only one place in the region made it and he gladly drove over an hr there to get the RIGHT materials (initially I said it didn't matter and did not have to be an exact match, but because it gets strong sun during the day, even the most minute of color differences would have been visible - Armando had the foresight to advise against a mismatch). Even if the previous contractors/roofers were able to diagnosed the problem, I doubt they would have had the patience or the skills to take on this painstaking process. Because some of Armando's specialties are in hardscaping and masonry, he was a perfect fit for this work. When no further leaks were detected after a light rain, he completed the rest of the roof repair. After the stormy rains once in 2021 and again at the beginning of 2022, we have been floored and amazed that there have not been any.further.leaks!!! I have no doubt that Armando cannot handle any job and I strongly recommend him for your next project (if he cannot handle it, he will be upfront with you). Give him the chance and you will be amazed at the outcome. If you would like to see more evidence of his work, please feel free to contact me through Armando."

FAQs for interlocking pavers for patios, walks & steps installation projects in Salinas, CA

To calculate your paver needs:

  • Determine how many pavers cover a square foot.

  • Determine how many square feet you need.

  • Add an additional 10% to 20% for breakage and waste.

  • Consider your pavers’ sizes.

Or, you can hire a local pro who you know will get the right measurements the first time. This way, you get your weekend back instead of spending it measuring square footage.

A pallet of pavers costs $300 to $700 on average, and each pallet covers 56 square feet. The exact price depends on the type, size, and quantity of pavers you choose. Buying in bulk can sometimes offer additional savings, especially for larger projects. Ask your pro how you can save on material costs.

To get the best prices on pavers:

  • Hire a professional landscaper: Pros often receive discounts on materials, which can make hiring them more cost-effective overall.

  • Shop at local building supply stores: Check for overstock or bulk purchase deals. Bulk purchasing can be more costly up front but save you money in the long run.

  • Buy directly from manufacturers: Purchasing from a local brickyard or paver factory can offer competitive prices, especially for large quantities.

The main difference between driveway pavers and patio pavers is their load-bearing capacity. Driveway pavers are designed to withstand the weight of vehicles, whereas patio pavers aren’t suitable for such heavy loads. You can use driveway pavers for a patio, but using patio pavers for a driveway could lead to damage. Always check the weight limits of pavers and consult with a professional installer to choose the right type for your project.

Paver patios cost more than concrete patios because the materials and installation methods require advanced techniques and skilled labor. They deliver enhanced aesthetic appeal and allow for easier small‑scale repairs without affecting property taxes. The higher expense arises from premium paver materials and intricate installation processes that deliver long‑lasting durability and design flexibility. This robust solution provides notable benefits over concrete alternatives, making it a valuable investment for homeowners.
