"Very impressed. Beware they are booked out a couple of months but your patience will be worth it. Showed up on time for every appointment along the way, important to me. They have their own dedicated employees, no subs, and bring in all the trades depending on your needs; plumber, stone guy, carpenters, etc. Everyone was very friendly, great with tips to do things better than you had planned and accommodating of changes. This is my first ever Angie's List review, but I am a real person and would recommend this company and will personally use them again for some bathroom work I have planned. From my wife: workers cleaned every day during the week and a half of working in our house, she was impressed and thankful for their diligence. From my dog: Thank you for the friendly greetings every morning before you started work, made my day. Part 1 of 2 review Project is 75% done, had to remake some cabinets due to changes I made during the job, will share before and after pics upon completion."

"THE CRAFTSMANSHIP EXPERTISE OF DALE AND MIKE WERE OUTSTANDING.  THE NEW CABINETS WERE MADE IN ARTHUR, IL BY THE AMISH.  THEY DID AN OUTSTANDING JOB.  THE REMODELING STARTED WITH DAVID WHO PLANNED WHAT OUR NEW KITCHEN WOULD LOOK LIKE AND HELPED US WHEN PROBLEMS POPPED UP.  HE MADE SURE EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTHLY.  WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE END RESULT.  LASTLY, DALE DID THAT LITTLE BIT EXTRA TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING CAME OUT PERFECT.  IT MAKES YOU WANT TO USE WOOD FRONT KITCHENS AGAIN. <br />"

"I had my cabinets refaced by Wood Front Kitchens, an affiliate of Peoria Siding & Windows under the Prairie Home Alliance. I was extremely happy with the end result and everyone who has visited has said how surprised they are that I had my cabinets refaced because they look like brand new cabinets.  The quality of the cabinets fronts are superb and the workmanship was excellent.  In addition to refacing the existing cabinets, they added a nice looking book shelf at the end of the island, installed 3 roll out drawers and added other nice finishing touches that I wasn't expecting.  The installers were very professional and cleaned up everything before they left the job.  If you are thinking about refacing your cabinets, I would highly recommend Wood Front Kitchens.  I have no regrets! <br /> <br />"

"Cornerstone Builders and Developers were initial recommended by Reading Plumbing to do the specialized work in the bathroom.  It was necessary to remove the shelf brace to allow the plumber to get to the underside of the faucet.  The shelf brace was an integral part of the front of the vanity.  So the work had to be done carefully so that when put back it would look like the other shelf braces in the vanity.  They did a good job and even painted it so you can not even tell it had been removed.  <br /> While having that work done, I had them put up some additional kitchen crown moulding which had not been done when the house was built.  It was for a couple of small areas.  The work was complicated by trying to get it to match up completely with the already installed pieces.  The carpenter did a great quality job and spent extra time to make sure it was done right.  He also painted the pieces to assure they match all the rest of the cabinets and moulding. <br />"

"The quality of the work is mediocre. The window sill is raw wood that is not sanded and still has very rough, raw edges. They left a mess, with wall compound on the shower head, the shower curtain rod, and the tub. Andy, who did the work, was asking me what needed to be done because he did not know any details of the work that was quoted. The transition between the tub and the back wall has to be finished by me. I paid for wall repair, and I have to spend more money to finish it myself. <br /> The bathroom was examined during the quote, so the scope of the work was known up front. They took photos to help in the quote. They were hired to fix the damage so that all I had to do was prime and paint the walls. Above the tub was done fine, but the more difficult work along the back side of the tub was not done correctly. Even when Andy came out again to fix the original work, it is still not done correctly. <br /> The owner did not respond well to the complaints I brought up. Instead of being concerned with a customer that was not happy, he threw out reasons why he was busy and that it was difficult to fit in such a small job within his larger jobs he is working on. He did not offer to come out and see the quality of the work that was done. I do believe if he saw the quality of the work, he would not have been happy about it, but for whatever reason, he could not be proactive in resolving an issue with a job. Big or small, all jobs are a reflection of the company. <br />"

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in San-jose, IL

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
