"I was very pleased on all interactions and work performed by A Plus Roofing. They were flexible and responsive through the whole process and gave me a fair deal. Despite trying to contact many roofers who were not available or reliable, I read the Angi reviews and called A Plus. I read Eric from A Plus was the only roofer who actually went on the roof to estimate which I know from experience set them apart from the others that had come to quote me. Eric did just that. He went on the roof and quoted me only for what needed to be replaced (an area of shingles) but also assessed the rest of the roof. He didn't try to sell me a new roof. Also, kudos to Vincenza from the office who regularly reached out and organized appts that worked around the icy weather and our availability. The on site team was competent, efficient, tidy and quick. Highly recommend A Plus (and we're formerly in the construction business so that means a lot!). It was a pleasure to do business with them."

"I contacted Roof Renew Pros after receiving a flier in the mail. I called and spoke to Barb who did a great job of explaining their unique process which is a wash and rinse method that does not use chlorine or any other harsh chemical products; nor is any high pressure washing done. She came and inspected the house and garage and provided a detailed description of what was found and a quote . I decided to have the roof and siding cleaned on both the house and the garage. The job result was fantastic! One person commented "Your siding looks new!". Barb was extremely helpful during the whole process and the crew was great---no mess or damage to plants at all! I highly recommend Roof Renew Pros."

"Al and his team are fantastic. They came out on a Saturday to diagnose and repair a leak I had around a vent pipe in my roof. They always do quality, detailed work. They had painted my house last year and I still get compliments on how nice and clean everything looks. If you need any work outside or in call Al and his team."

"I originally called them to fix a leak y roof, They came out promptly did a temporary repair and told me what the problem was. They wouldn't accept any compensation for the temporary repair which stopped the leak. All that they said was that when I was going to Wagner was very good. About 2-4 months later after getting 3 qoutes i decided to go with Wagner for my roof replacement. They were the  2nd lowest price I received. But when I check out the lowest contractor I found that they had a number of complaints against them and Wagner had none. The money was worth the peace of mind. I couldn't be happier with the job they did. <br />"

"I had them to redo my whole roof 1.5 year ago and I found a piece of shingle fell off recently. I contacted the owner and they stood behind their work and promise. He quickly scheduled a follow-up and sent his team to fix it in a short period of time. In these days you can easily find any contractors do the work and work away with your money. However once the job is done, you will never see them again when there are any issues. This will not happen to Hi Tech Contracting as they are professional, responsible and trustworthy. Highly recommended!"

"I used Atticrawl for one of my historically old buildings, thought raccoons where entering to the attic. the smell of death was horrendous!!!! Luckily into the incredibly thorough cleanout and removal down to the insulation they found it to be squirrels . they sealed all access points and shared photos. Fantastic customer service communications with Ryan Abraham before during and after the job! He even shared photos of the chimney seal so my husband didn't have to go on the roof !!!! FIVE STARS!!!!"

"<p>The entire experience was extremely positive... starting with the owner Jeff's on-site visit to discuss my replacement window needs, and ultimately concluding when he returned after the installation's completion to finish the final trim painting. I met initially with several highly rated Angie's List window installers, and ultimately selected Taylor Rae.  My selection process was focused on identifying a quality window manufacturer's product, and the BEST installation team available.  Having a quality window installed by a potentially sub-par installer can greatly jeopardize the significant investment you'll make.  Speaking with Jeff during his on-site estimate visit helped convince me to the installation knowledge and expertise his company provides (as well as the multiple Angie's List positive reviews).  Additionally we discussed manufacturer options.  Taylor Rae is open to sourcing from several quality providers, which was a positive, as they are not focused on pushing only one manufactures product... instead they can work with you to find the best quality option for the objectives you're seeking. The price I was quoted was not the not the most expensive, nor the lowest.  But I was very comfortable going ultimately with Taylor Rae because I determined they provided the best quality product, and it's installation, for a fair price.</p> <p>I was not disappointed with my selection.  As a customer, the installation phase was painless.  The job was estimated to require three days, as I had two larger windows (128"x75", 75"x72") involving a complicated installation process.  Jeff was on-site throughout the process, and helped oversee the job was done correctly.  I never felt they were rushing the job in any way.  At the end of each day, Jeff walked me through all that had been accomplished, and an outline of what was planned for the next day.  They also ensured they thoroughly cleaned the work areas at the end of each day.  The final product met all my expectations, as the style and quality of the windows installed really transformed each room.  Kudos to Jeff with his assistance during the selection process (sharing the pros and cons of casement vs double-hung, prairie view trim helps allow a greater amount of visible space, etc).  </p> <p>One item that really stood out about Taylor Rae, and the owner Jeff, was the complete ownership they had for all aspects of the job.  Unfortunately we encountered a pretty significant delay in receiving the ordered windows from the manufacturer.  This was due to one-time incident involving the manufacturer's moving from their former location to a new expanded manufacturing facility (something completely out of Taylor Rae's control). Jeff went to bat on my behalf and personally contacted the Sr. Mgmt of the window company.  This resulted in my order being prioritized once the manufacturers transition completed, and having my order expedited.  Additionally the manufacturer agreed to upgrade my glass package, as the original package was proving a challenge to source on time.  When things start to potentially go off the rails, that's often when you really see the true measure of the companies you're working with.  What could have been a horror story, turned out to be a success story instead. Both the manufacture and Taylor Rae stepped up to take full ownership of addressing the product delay (without my having to push them to do so). I truly appreciated the manufacturers offer to upgrade the glass package as a way to help offset the inconvenience I experienced.  Now six months later, and after going through many hot summer days and cold winter nights, I can confirm there have been no issues discovered with either the quality or installation of the windows received.</p> <p>Lastly, let me extend this positive review to include all the staff of Taylor Rae.  Jeff was easy to work with, and his installers were equally as nice and as skilled.  Jamie runs the company's office functions, and she was also a joy to work with throughout the process.  Such a nice person.  Always kept me posted on where we were in the process, and very quick to respond whenever I had a question.</p> <p>I will definitely be in contact with Taylor Rae for any future window needs... I know they also do siding and roofing, and given my positive experience with this window replacement project, I would definitely have their firm on my short list of providers to speak with for either of those jobs as well.</p> <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Scotch Plains, NJ

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
