"We got our solar system installed by Texas Prime Homes based on my friend's recommendations. Juan from Texas Prime Homes spent a great deal of time studying and explaining the different options suitable for our roof orientation and consumption. He was very patient in answering all my questions and made me understand the Solar installation process, steps and whats to come. The entire process of consultation, sizing the system and subsequent install was very smooth. Strongly recommended! He was always great when it came to providing status updates."

"Hailstorm hit my area a few years ago and after seeing a number of my neighbors getting their roof replaced I called a Texas windstorm inspector, who said my roof was 50% damaged and needed to be replaced. <br /> The way it worked with Texas windstorm at the time was that it had to be repaired or they would not provide any more coverage, so I called Berryman Roofing to quote replacements. In terms of money I don't actually know the final value of the repair, since it was through my windstorm insurance. <br /> I was fairly impressed with the two reps who came out to quote the roof. Texas Windstorm didn't seem like it was going to give me enough money to cover it, but the roofers assured me they'd handle it. Work started a week or two after I signed the paperwork. They suggested upgrading my shingles to a superior type, which cost me an extra $600 out of pocket (Windstorm will replace like for like, so upgrades were on me). I live on the Gulf coast so it wasn't a hard sell giving me 120 mph rated shingles over the 80 mph the original ones had. They were thicker, heavier and were also more resistant to hail damage. Look better too, so it wasn't a hard sell given that it's a tiny fraction of the overall cost of a new roof. <br /> They were in and out in one day. I left for work fairly early, before any of them arrived, and got home late that day around 7. The roof was completely stripped, new shingles put on and everything cleaned up and removed before I got home. I never actually saw them, but they also replaced dented fittings over my vents, put hoods over vents that weren't covered and in general did a quality job. <br /> They maintain offices here locally and said they will warranty their work, though so far I've had no reason to call them back out. Windstorm was a bit slow cutting me checks to pay them, but they weren't pushy about billing and after I paid out everything I was supposed to they dealt with windstorm directly and that was the last I heard of it. I presume the repairs cost more than what Windstorm budgeted for and there's some mechanism for them to seek out whatever the difference was, but honestly I don't know the specifics. <br /> I suppose I should mention there are roofing companies who will offer to 'pay your deductible' presumably by overcharging the insurance and handing money back to their customer. I know by my policies I was responsible to pay out of pocket for upgrades and for the deductible, so that sort of thing is insurance fraud as far as I can tell. Berryman won't do it, despite that it's fairly damaging for their competitiveness. Seems to be an honest company, and it's been around for something like 30 years so they're not going to just disappear after the job's done. <br />"

"QRS did an excellent job on my roof. Matt Terry is the best. He came to my door and said I needed new roof and that he could help me get it done. So I took the chance and trusted him and he was wonderful. He did all the work with State Farm and I just sat back. I got full replacement on roof, gutters and screens and Matt made that happen. All this was done just before Christmas, so I can relax and enjoy the holidays. Thanks again Matt and QRS.."

"I called, and I would guess that in 3 hours I had a new water heater installed and working at my office, and everything cleaned up. That is the wind up. <br /> After lunch yesterday, we noticed a very badly leaking water heater. I looked up plumbers on Angie's list and called Rick's. I left my name and number, and within an hour we had two service techs at our office. They assessed the situation, removed the old water heater, went and got the new one and then installed it. Our office was without water for about an hour and a half. <br /> I really like people that work like that! <br />"

"Mr. Rodriguez and his crew were punctual. Mr. Rodriguez is a professional. Explains what the work entails and how his crew will be doing the work. They laid out tarps around the whole house before removing the shingles and covered necessary plants. All scrap and nails fell onto the tarps and they cleaned each and everyday after work. They removed all the old shingles and had the black felt in place in one day. The next day they were on the roof hand nailing down the shingles. Did not use any airguns to nail anything. On the third day they finished by noon and loaded all trash for that morning and used magnets to sweep the area around the house. I was extremely pleased and felt that Mr. Rodriguez took care of our home as if it were his own. My family and I appreciate them a great deal. <strong>Thank you Mr. Rodriguez.</strong> <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in South Padre Island, TX

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
