"Greg and Randy were absolutely GREAT to work with! They were extremely thorough with information before, during and after the installation of my new roof. Greg worked directly with my insurance company to get approvals, etc. for our roofing project. I will use Security Roofing again for my vinyl siding and roofing needs in the future, if needed. Thanks Greg & Randy for an awesome job!!"

"Overall we are very pleased with our new roof and with working with Jonathan and the rest of the crew at The Roofing Annex. The quality of the new roof and their ability to interface with our insurance adjuster were very much appreciated. The crew that did the roof install were excellent and friendly and got the job knocked out in one day. The only thing that ended less than satisfactorily was that additional damage to the interior of the home which was part of the claim was supposed to be coordinated by Roofing Annex with another sub contractor and that never happened. Probably not the fault of TRA but I thought it should be noted if you are in need of more repairs outside of just the roof. As it turned out I am working directly with my insurance adjuster and this is being taken care of anyway. All in all I would still recommend TRA to family and friends."

"I called Guaranteed Roofing because of a recommendation from a coworker, and Jason answered the phone. I told him that I needed a ridge vent repaired, and he told me the earliest he could do it was probably next week because he was about to go on vacation. I told him that other companies said pretty much the same thing time wise, so thanks anyway (two other companies I had contacted via Angie's List had yet to commit to fixing my roof). He returned my call 5 minutes later and asked me to send him a photo of the roof. I sent it to him around 11:20 in the morning, and he was on my roof around 1:00 fixing it. It may have been coincidence, that he happened to be in the area, but I'm sure he'd have been there promptly anyway. The fact that he was thoughtful enough to call me back after our initial call just blew me away. You just don't see people who care that much about other people these days! Jason was kind and professional, and even showed me before and after pictures of the work. I greatly appreciate the prompt, professional service and the reasonable price. He repaired an even larger section of my roof than either of us thought he would have to, and he did it at no additional cost. I would recommend this company to anyone, and I will not be shopping around next time I need roof work!"

"We called 10 different people/businesses on a Sunday (nobody would answer or call back). James not only answered, but came right out to stop the leak that was starting to damage the ceiling drywall. He explained it was due to an "ice dam" and climbed right up and worked hard to complete clearing the snow/ice off of our roof. This was no small job, as our house is rather large. <br />"

"I had a full tear off and replacement of roof on my three-story, 107-year-old home. It was exhausting to me, so I can only imagine what a hard job it was for the workers. A team of about 10 men did the job in four days. It was estimated to take three days, but they discovered there were four layers of roofing up top, not the three layers they expected. Also it was mid-November so the available daylight was less than in another season. The team did a good job and cleaned up afterwards. My one recommendation for anyone having roofing done is to clear everything around the base of your house and on your porches. I didn't have a lot of warning about when they would start work so I hadn't rolled up my porch rug and it got very dirty. My cedar fence was also damaged by discarded shingles. The company told me at estimate that they would need to tear off the original cedar shakes roofing, but I didn't realize what that entailed. I ended up with a horrible mess in my attic closets. I contacted Kevin S. at Maxim. He was very apologetic and sent two men out to clean up the mess. It was a nasty job. I am very grateful Maxim listened to my complaint and made it right."

"Our new roof looks great! We had some water spots showing inside, so they got us on the schedule very quickly. The crew of seven got the entire job done in one day. We could tell from the way they conducted themselves that they take pride in their work and it shows. Chad was great with communication, and everything was just as he said it would be. We are very pleased and would not hesitate to use Castle Roofing again. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Springfield, OH

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
