"OH MY GOD! This company is beyond amazing. We were in the market to get our cabinets refaced and let me tell you, this company blew us out of the water on so many levels! For starters, we looked at a couple big box retailers and their prices were extremely high so when we met with the owner Dennis, we were skeptical. Once he gave us the price, I felt like it was too good to be true. His price was 40% cheaper than the big box stores and this was getting everything we wanted from Dennis. Dennis was one of the most professional people I have ever had the pleasure with dealing with. He was always on time, extremely professional and honesty. The person who worked on out cabinets was Joe. Let me tell you, this man is an artist! His attention to detail on the cabinets was amazing. I feel like they have revived our kitchen and our house. I would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting to do a cabinet refacing! Thank you again!!"

"Mr. Sandless was very open about the service he provided and its limitations. They arrived on time answered any and all questions that I had. They did a fantastic job refinishing our floors. The type of hardwood we had would not allow us to do a traditional refinish of the floors so the Mr. Sandless process was an excellent option. The wait time for the finish to dry was also substantially shorter that a traditional refinish. We were able to move our furniture into our house 24 hours after the job was completed.  I am very happy with the process and service that was provided and would recommend it to a friend."

"They were good, very affordable, and prompt in their service. They gave us a discount on the gutter helmets because we had de-watering done and the cabinets done by them. The work they did were very good and they cleaned up after themselves. They are sort of an all-around."

"This is first class service.  They are exactly where they say they'll be, exactly when they say they'll be there.  All the work is top quality and they come back to do adjustments for free and with a simple phone call.  (The heavy glass shower door occasionally needs adjustment because of the swelling and contracting of the house in the seasons.  They take care of it every time.)  This was an expensive remodel, but I think the price was fair considering the service. <br />"

"Very prompt and courteous. I trusted the carpenter. I would use them again because it was very easy to deal with and cheap. My complaints are the salesman comes by and sells you on this kitchen and yeah yeah's you and promises the moon. Then the designer comes by and designs he kitchen how he sees it. I had to be pretty firm with them to get it how I wanted it. The carpenter did the plumbing the last day which bothered me because even though they check for leaks some can still arise and they did. The pipes didn't leak with the faucet but once the dishwasher came on they leaked. I had to replace a few fittings that leaked. I have not contacted them on this matter but I am sure they will stand for the 10 dollar parts.  So I was happy with everything they did except for the leaky pipes and under the cabinet lights. All in all that is not to bad because I am pretty particular."

"I recently had pleasure of working with 2nd Street painting for an exterior pain job, and I could not be happier with my decision. After receiving several quotes from different companies, I chose 2nd Street painting, largely due to Nate's thoroughness and evident passion for his craft. From the start, he demonstrated deep knowledge of exterior painting and provided valuable insight that reassured me that I was in good hands. The team, consisting of Clayton and Josh, took the project to an entirely new level. Their attention to detail ensured that the final result was not only fabulous but also flawless. One challenge we faced was the need to replace several wooden boards on my home. While this task took Josh longer than initially anticipated, I was impressed by the professionalism and courtesy displayed by both Clayton and Josh throughout the process. They honored the original quote without adding any unexpected charges, which is a testament to their integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction. Communication was seamless from start to finish. The kept me informed at every step, which made the entire experience stress-free. Overall, I highly recommend 2nd Street painting for anyone looking for professional and respectful painting company. Their skills, dedication and customer service are truly commendable explanation!"

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Stonington, IL

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
