"We went with John as his bid was lower. He worked alone for most of the project which helped keep costs down. The project did take a long time as he was balancing snow removal with our renovation, but he did explain this before he started. He was very honest and had good ideas; we never thought he was deliberately running up the price or making the project more complex than it needed to be. He was willing to do a few other minor repairs around our home that were needed. He also removed all construction debris and was willing to economize when we asked him to. "Expert House Movers brought a crew of 6-8 & came in late August 2013 to start the process of raising & moving the house.  My husband had done all the prep work of disconnecting the utilities & removing the furnace, etc. They dug access ramps to the old foundation/basement with bobcats.  They poked good sized holes around the foundation so they could put in steel beams and jack up the house.  Our foundation was from 1917 & built from old creek gravel cement, so it was pretty tough.  It took three & half days to jack the house & move it over the driveway.  It seemed really fast to me.  The only thing to fall in the house was a picture off the piano.  We still had access to the house through a tall ladder to get clothes, etc. that we needed. <br /> We took over the process of arranging excavation, concrete pouring, and carpenters with more local contractors.  Expert does have concrete people & others they use in the St Louis area that know exactly the requirements needed for the new foundation. <br /> After the basement was poured & cured (curing takes about 3-4 weeks), Expert returned in October 2013 to move & set the house.  They had been in contact with the concrete man for specifications, but there were no slots for the beams when setting the house down.  A concrete worker had to come & cut those slots.  We had a carpenter on hand to finish the sill installment & make sure the sills for the permanent beams was correct & set the support posts in the basement.  We also had a friend's tractor help Expert's bobcat pull the house back over the foundation.  While all this was going on, Expert was jacking and moving supports & placing slider beams & raising & lowering the house.  The process was complete in about 2 1/2 days with care & precision.  Some of the cracks in our house even disappeared.  Great job guys. <br /> Our carpenters returned to build a staircase & some other requirements.  We are working on re-connecting utilities & returning the furnace, water heater, etc. to the new basement.  We plan to move back into the house in the first week or so in November 2013.  It's been a long process, but well worth it.  Made possible by Expert House Movers! <br />"

"Bill Hayes showed up on time, preformed the work doing a super professional job and stuck to the quote even though the job took a little longer. He left the site clean and in a better condition than when he arrived. Bill Hayes was very experienced and efficiently and expertly operated his equipment in our tight back yard. We recommend him and would hire him back again. He is very talented and good at what he does, we were very lucky we hired him because he knew how to stabilize the bank. We had been looking for someone that knew how to do this but we're not convinced that just a retaining wall would work. Now our house is protected, our bank is stabilized with large boulders, our bank can now become be a beautiful rock garden this summer with plantings in between the puzzled together rocks. "As I was able to assist his crew and not obstruct their work, I was welcome to do so bringing the expense down.   I know Mike from other community activities and that is why I hired him to do the work because I had seen and respected his energy and the quality of his work. <br /> When I approached him about this task, after several starts, he met me at the house, we talked about the work that needed to be done, he put together a estimate and with additional conversations we decided on the final project and he gave us a final estimate .  The final cost  for the project was 3% higher than his estimate.  Considering that he didn't know what, precisely, he was getting in to with this job, he was surprisingly accurate with his estimate I think.   <br /> Even though I have listed a single "service date" , the work really stretched over September, October and November 2011.  We were out of the house in other accommodations on the property which certainly took the pressure off for a speedy accomplishment of the work. <br /> His crew were well mannered, friendly, skilled and neat. <br /> We are greatly pleased with the job that he did for us."
