"We love working with The Cabinet Shop!  Designer Trea takes the time to fully understand our needs and she is able to translate our descriptions into designs that work perfectly for our home.   The construction of their furniture is of the highest quality.  The installers, Jay and Lee, are expert craftsmen who worked carefully and neatly in our home during the several-day installation process.  Mike came to assist in the installation of specific elements and was also a pleasure to work with.  We are so happy to have our new custom pieces and are already using The Cabinet Shop for another project! <br />"

"We are very pleased with the results of our project. The project encountered many unforeseen issues as old bathroom fixtures, kitchen cabinets and floors were taken out, however Mike had excellent solutions for every problem encountered and the additional charges to correct the unforeseen issues were very reasonable."

"HIS Handywork repaired rotted wood at the base of our patio door that had become water damaged. Ross was very responsive and reliable. He did exactly what he said he would do when he said he would do it. This was despite the fact that our home was somewhat out of his normal work area. We very much appreciated this. In addition to fixing the water damage to the door, Ross also recommended several easy solutions to prevent the water issue from recurring. We definitely plan to reach out to HIS Handywork again."

"Jeff was prompt, curteous, and professional. He painted the entire exterior of our house which included nearly a week of prep work. It certainly paid off! Our house looks 20 years younger. He additionally refinished the front porch, helped choose painting and staining colors, and was there almost daily over the three week period. He stands by his work. However, he is not the least expensive painter you can hire. I often find, you get what you pay for. His workers were quiet and efficient and cleaned up after themselves every day. I never came home to ladders or paint cans anywhere. I plan to use Jeff for yearly house washing, painting touch ups, and whatever may be needed. I highly recommend him; you won't be disappointed."

"We are very happy with the results and our new look kitchen. The only downside is that you cannot use the counter tops for 48 hours after they finish. That worked out fine for us. The person that did the estimate was very professional and very helpful. She did not do any high pressure, just here is the product and here is the price.  She had many samples and colors to choose from.   The guys that did the work were very careful to cover or mask everything near the kitchen. There was a new room paint smell for the evening after they left but that was all. <br /> We will use them again when we decided to get our cabinet doors refinished. If your counter tops need a "new life" -- this is the place to go! <br /> They work out of Charleston but they had no problem coming about 75 miles to our home to do this work   <br /> We are not really sure why you would want to get all new tops when this process is available."

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Summerville, SC

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
