"Mike and Jessie at Sammler did a great job on our roof. From the beginning Mike was excellent scoping out the project, incorporating our needs, and bringing a very competitive quote. We appreciated that through the entire process, he didn’t pull any heavy sales, or bait-and-switch tactics. Just a solid guy through and through. Also, when we had a small incident (stuff happens), he made it right without any prodding. We’ve worked with a lot of contractors in the past that just turned their head when similar stuff occurs. It's clear they stand by their quality work. They did a fine job installing a skylight, and sourcing the specific shingle that we wanted. And when all was finished, they did a pretty good job cleaning the mess from the old roof removal. We will definitely use Sammler Roofing on future roofing needs. Thanks guys!"

"It was Christmas Eve when I discovered water dripping onto the garage floor beneath the furnace flue pipe during a rainstorm.  The next business day, I called Tom Goldston Roofing and left a message that I needed a repair.  Tom returned my phone call the following day, which was a Saturday.  He told me over the phone that a little bit of caulk would likely solve the problem.  He said he would probably not be able to get there on Monday, but would be there on Tuesday for sure.  As it turned out, snow was predicted for Tuesday.  Late Monday afternoon, I received a call from Tom.  He said he would be over to take care of the repair.  I was very pleased that he came before the snow arrived.  He caulked around the pipe and also did a quick inspection to see if anything else on the roof needed to be sealed.  He charged me only $20.  A real bargain, in my opinion.  Great service.  Will call him again when I need a repair on the roof. <br />"

"The price seemed rather high considering the bid was to replace a metal roof panel which didn't happen. He capped and sealed the chimney vent instead. As it is difficult to find and service people that are willing to do work in Mt Charleston, I am satisfied overall. <br />"

"Good. Estimate was $408.00. The bill came through for $304.00 We have used them for other jobs including enclosing our car port to a garage. They do good work at a fair price. Their estimate for a roof repair was high and so we used someone else for that. <br />"

"Ernie Haas provided a very thorough examination of our roof which enabled us (after much back and forth with our roofer (DCF Contracting)) to ensure that all necessary and required repairs were made to our roof. Mr. Haas stayed in contact with us for more than a month to ensure that any questions or issues we had were addressed."

"After a tree fell on our roof and damaged the eve, most roofing companies wouldn’t even look at it. I found Kyle by chance and I’m so glad we did! The job was done quickly and looks amazing. He was professional and communicated throughout the entire job. Kyle has an extensive skill set and I will be calling him as other jobs pop up. Highly recommend Eastman Home Repairs!"

"All the work Scott has done, and is doing for me now, is excellent. He communicates every step of the way, has a good temperament (I've had some contractors who are grumpy) and everything turns out like I expect it to. I've had no surprises or disappointments with his work or any of this subcontractors. He doesn't promise what he can't deliver - I guess that makes him honest and transparent. He services his work too. Once Scott was at my house, don't remember why, and I mentioned that my back door was sticking. He fixed it - and this was years after he had installed it. Things like that made him the logical selection to do my latest project. We just have a good working relationship. That's important to me."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Sun Valley, NV

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
