Customers say: Super punctual

"L&L made several visit including Saturday and Sunday to evaluate the job and made several suggestions as to the best way to replace the roof without any damage to the interior of our house. They promised to pick a good day to do the job and complete the job in one day. They arrived at about 7:30 AM with a crew of about 10 workers and had the complete roof replaced and the yard completely cleaned up before 4:30 PM. This included new lead flashing for the chimney and replacing 2 sheets of plywood. In addition they guaranteed the workmanship of the roof for as long as we owned the house. We had no problems at all.

"3 Son’s Siding & Gutters LLC did my roof about four months ago. They came and gave me a price that was more than fair…3 Son’s were very professional, work very safely. They stripped two layers, found that they had to get plywood and replace the whole roof, it was a bit more but they did the plywood, re-shingled the roof in the one day.i was very impressed with the way all the workers did what needed to be done. The job was done in a day and a half, all the mess was picked up went around the house with magnets picking up all the nails. All I can say I believe they are very professional, very concerned about how my property was left I think it was cleaner than when they started.Very good crew did a great job couldn’t be any happier. Great crew very professional!!!! Thanks for all your hard work.Al Couture Southwick Mass."

"Chris is a pleasure to work with. He showed up quickly after my call and was up on our roof looking for causes of several leaks we had. His assessment was thorough and he took the time to explain in detail our roof situation including issues with the structure underneath the shingles. He was willing to simply fix our leaks but also offered his opinion of the entire roof and other problem areas. His quote was prompt, had great detail on scope of work and was very competitive. He was able to fit our job in quickly. Also want to thank Chris for his willingness to work with our Home Warrantee Insurer who was difficult and required several hrs. Of his time on the phone to gain approvals. His crew showed up as promised on time, set up quickly and were removing the old roof within an hr. Of arrival. They did a great job and clearly know what they’re doing. Chris was on the job and on the roof overseeing the work and making sure everything went perfectly, which it did. His lead guy was professional and his crew stayed busy throughout the job. They did a thorough cleanup after day 1 which was nice. Chris also walked around the house several times as did his crew making sure the final cleanup was complete. Appreciate the effort. I not only would hire Able again, but have already given Chris’s name to several people in my family. We’ve gotten several compliments already on the roof and gutters so a final BIG thanks to Chris and his crew for a job well done. You won’t regret hiring Able for your roofing needs."

"We had to go to the bear bones of the roof because in thoes days they only used wide boards to hold shakes for a roof now code demands plywood for a base. The work and workers were fantastic, fast, worked as a well tuned crew and were respectful and polite. They cleaned up and left the yard cleaner than before they came! We will have Alliance Home Improvement as our "go to project team" in the future as this old house will become new again with their skill. Thank you Alliance Home Improvement for all your hard work!"

"Small repair to my chimney. We noticed a spot on our ceiling we contacted a few contractors but I guess the job was too small for them to bother with it. H&L Roofing responded immediately and got the job done 2 days later. Highly recommend them"

"

Franklin did our fall clean up last year and plowed snow over the winter season.  I already hired him prior to the tree job.

For the tree work I got a quote from him early in April.  I was hoping for them to do the work later in April, but they had a jobs lined up so we had to wait until mid-May for our turn.  The work was done in 1.5 days.  Day 1 they arrived 8ish in the morning, a team of 4.  Franklin and I had a brief chat while his team unloaded their equipment and prepared for the work.  Franklin did the most difficult task himself - climbed up our 50+ foot tree and started cutting branch by branch.  He and his team went above and beyond - using techniques that prevented any damage to our roof.  The large tree was 6 feet away from our deck with large branches over our roof. They had the equipment and trained man power for the work.

Later in the day 2 more workers arrived.  These  men worked on cutting down the 2 average size trees (took them less than 10 minutes each tree) and also started cutting up the trunk and large branches to firewood length.  They also started cleanup by turning smaller branches and leaves to woodchips.

When the large tree was cleared of most its branches they used ropes to ensure that it falls away from the house when they cut it at the base.  All men worked together to down the big tree.  Once done, they worked on the 2nd big tree, again cutting down branches then falling it away from the house.  Once both trees were down then cleaned up for the day and left the rest of the work for Day 2.

Day 2 they arrived 3pm on a Monday, I think there were 5-6 men.  They cut up the big tree trunks to firewood length, stacked them.  They worked on the branches over the power lines and those crowding the pine tree.  They were done in about 4 hours.

We paid a good price for the work that they did.  And they did a lot of work!  Franklin sent sufficient man power to do the job in the safest and fastest way possible. We are happy with their professionalism and team work.

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Taconic, CT

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
