"<p>Band repair was required due to termite damage prior to our purchasing the house last year. There was about 3' that needed to be removed and replaced. Mike replaced the eaten/chewed up wood with treated wood and built a support pier for the band with concrete. Mike also replaced two pier supports, that were precariously dry stacked, with proper concrete support piers properly cemented together as the NC Building code requires. They look as pretty as a support pier can look!  It is sad to note that the house inspector (prior to purchase) stated that dry stacking support piers were within NC Building code standards. Throughout my extensive research I have found that the inspector was wrong. Go figure...</p> <p>I cannot give you a play by play because I have no desire to go into the crawl space but I have attached what the rotted wood looks like and what the new support piers look like. </p> <p>R-19 insulation was properly installed in our house for the first time by Norbert and Mike in a very expeditious manner. I am looking forward to a much cheaper heating bill this winter.</p> <p>And Dennis took the opportunity to break a sweat when sledge hammering the ugly brick flower bed that more than likely caused the termites to call the house their home prior to us purchasing it. <br /> <br /></p> <p>As always, Dennis Kolenc and his crew have impressed me with the quality of their work, materials used, utilizing NC building codes, and of course, their professional, ethical and very humorous attitudes. "I wanted to give a great review. The estimate went well and the pricing seemed fair. The owner indicated he had professionals in each renovation discipline (flooring, cabinets, plumbing, electrical, etc.). I needed LVP installed over concrete, a kitchen cabinet install completion (I tried, I failed), and a minor electrical issue addressed. The workers were nice and prompt. The same guy did floors and cabinets and attempted to fix the electrical issue. There weren't different guys for each element of the job as claimed. The cabinets and microwave install went very well. The electrical issue wasn't resolved. I was charged for a breaker and some labor. Turns out the load and lead on the GFCI just needed to be switched. It took an electrician I hired literally 45 seconds to fix it. Now, onto the flooring. THIS is where it really came off the rails. NO real surface prep was done. There are MAJOR flaws under the plank (serious bumps as though there are screw heads or chunks of concrete under which are popping up). Seams aren't tight. There is a random screw (just one) that looks like it was put in by the workers for who knows what reason. Just a general lack of quality workmanship. They have the potential to be a fine company but they need to treat EVERY single job as though their reputation depended on it (because it DOES). And don't claim to have expert workers in each discipline when it's really just one handyman. I just can't recommend them..."

"I hired Aluminum Company of NC do replace all my windows and entry doors -- a project that was LONG overdue. I'd done a lot of research into replacement windows -- what to ask when interviewing companies, what a quality installation looks like, which windows are the best quality. I'd been saving up for eight years for this because I wanted quality -- and it isn't always the name brands you know that are the best. I chose this company for these reasons: 1) Reputation. The company has been around since 1961 so they aren't going anywhere. 2) I researched the brand and type of window they install to verify quality and these were recommended by more than one person. 3) I asked about the install itself -- who measures, to what detail do they measure, type of caulk, how they insulate. And they never once treated me like "the clueless little woman." The rep respected that I did this due diligence and even gave me MORE information about their installation process, which I double checked, and yes, it is above and beyond. 4) The payment plan was simply unbeatable. 5) They gave me a DETAILED quote AND personal references. Other companies I spoke with did not. Communication was impeccable. It was a wait of a few months, but they kept in touch. Installation took only 3 days for 19 windows and 4 entry doors. These guys work FAST, without sacrificing attention to detail. When we had a mishap with one of my cats escaping the "safe space" they worked with me until I could corral him into another safe space. The crew chief, Chris Riley, is personable and managed the job well. The work site was left CLEAN. The full screens I asked for were installed later, and they're great. I had many windows that hadn't been opened for years because of being painted shut, nor had they been cleaned well. Now I can clean my own windows, the draftiness is gone and I am comfortable because that this company stands by its work. I am an anxious person. This was the biggest job I've ever had done where I didn't already know the person doing the work. They dealt with my anxiety beautifully and kindly. I have already recommended this company to others and will continue to do so."
