"Chad had me from the description of how critical prep work is to a good job. And Kyle and Dakota worked hard at it. Had a lot of wallpaper to remove (4 rooms & a tall stairway and hall); and drywall to repair (from settling and damage). They spent 2-3 days on prep. They also helped with a water condensation problem at the bathroom exhaust fan (5th room). Also did 3 closets. The paint looks fabulous. We have a few bedrooms that need some paint too. Will probably call them again."

"I recently had pleasure of working with 2nd Street painting for an exterior pain job, and I could not be happier with my decision. After receiving several quotes from different companies, I chose 2nd Street painting, largely due to Nate's thoroughness and evident passion for his craft. From the start, he demonstrated deep knowledge of exterior painting and provided valuable insight that reassured me that I was in good hands. The team, consisting of Clayton and Josh, took the project to an entirely new level. Their attention to detail ensured that the final result was not only fabulous but also flawless. One challenge we faced was the need to replace several wooden boards on my home. While this task took Josh longer than initially anticipated, I was impressed by the professionalism and courtesy displayed by both Clayton and Josh throughout the process. They honored the original quote without adding any unexpected charges, which is a testament to their integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction. Communication was seamless from start to finish. The kept me informed at every step, which made the entire experience stress-free. Overall, I highly recommend 2nd Street painting for anyone looking for professional and respectful painting company. Their skills, dedication and customer service are truly commendable explanation!"

"I cannot imagine painters being more interested in doing a thorough and professional job. The two men, Mike and Dave, were exceptionally good workers, friendly, and a pleasure to work with. <br /> However, my perception is that the owner pulled them off of the job prematurely. They were at the point of inspecting and painting and/or caulking oversights. There were window and door joints uncaulked and surfaces not painted or painted with only one coat of paint. In a brief message from the owner, I was told they were finished and the painters sent to other jobs. There was no request regarding my satisfaction with the job. When I responded to the message, I requested caulk and paint to finish the work. Again no inquiry as to my satisfaction with the job. The owner told me that additional remnant paint and two tubes of caulk would be available at Sherwinwilliams and that I could pick it up there. Again, no inquiry as to my satisfaction with the job. The final message was a call from the owner requesting payment about one week after the job was "finished (?)." <br /> My ratings regarding punctuality and professionalism refer to the painters! <br /> <br />"

"Tim and Rod Moseley are very good people. I trusted them to begin remodeling our condo, even when we weren't able to be in town. They were highly recommended to us by others so we went with them. The C rating is because the prices are very high, some of the people that do the work are not that good and because oftentimes, their people were late getting to our place or it took a REALLY long time for them to complete a task. For example, they would tell us that they would get here by 8 in the morning but then actually came an hour and a half later! This happened several times and they explained it was because they were working on another job but consequently, the whole project took much longer to finish than first estimated (almost 4 months later). There were times that I had to talk to Rod Moseley (one of the owners) about the poor work that had been done - from laying down tiles on our kitchen to caulking to uneven backsplash tiling. To his credit, he did have them redo so it was done properly but that was time lost for me. You need to constantly supervise and make sure their work is done well. All in all, I probably wouldn't use them again. <br />"

FAQs for exterior home or structure paint or stain projects in Villa Grove, IL

Painting vinyl siding is a budget-friendly way to revive curb appeal without paying for new panels. As long as the boards aren’t warped, cracked, or leaking, a coat of high-quality acrylic paint can buy you another five to 10 years before replacement.

Stick to lighter shades so the siding doesn’t soak up excess heat, and prep the surface well for the paint to bond. If you’re seeing rot or moisture damage, skip the paint and plan for new siding instead.

High-quality acrylic paint is recommended for vinyl siding. Acrylic paint adheres firmly to vinyl surfaces and resists peeling and fading, providing a sleek and long-lasting finish. Ensure the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for optimal results. Your exterior painting pro has the expertise to properly prepare your siding’s surface to ensure proper adhesion.

Priming is not required if the vinyl siding remains in good condition and is properly cleaned. However, if the original color is severely faded or the panels have become porous, priming becomes essential. Priming provides a smooth, even base that improves paint adhesion and enhances durability, ensuring the acrylic finish adheres properly and lasts longer.

A paint sprayer is the quickest, most consistent way to coat vinyl siding. The fine mist reaches grooves a roller can miss and lays down an even layer in a fraction of the time. You’ll still need a brush for tight corners, but a sprayer slashes labor hours and reduces lap marks.

If you’re renting equipment, ask the supplier for a tip size made for exterior acrylics so the paint atomizes correctly and sticks to the siding.

Painted vinyl siding lasts between five and 10 years. The durability depends on the quality of the surface preparation and the local climate conditions. When the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepped, and high-quality acrylic paint is used, the finish endures longer. In hotter regions, the lifespan may be closer to five years, while cooler climates help extend it.
