"After 3 years following a complete roof replacement on 3 structures, I developed leaks on the corners in 6 locations, seemingly a product failure. Total provided Saturday service and ordered the correct color and re-scheduled for install. Their work came with a 5 year warranty, which was easy and no hassle getting done. Their staff remains professional and office staff tries hard to keep us informed through the repair. We have previously met and worked with the owner of Total, Kevin Jackson, truly a man of integrity, hard to find in roofers. It is my pleasure to recommend this company and I have. <br />"

"I contacted Shurway to put up some support beams, do some tuck pointing on the bricks outside my house and in the concrete blocks in my unfinished basement. I also asked them to put a layer of mortar over the bricks on my basement walls to make them look better. (I'm getting ready to sell the house and an unfinished basement in an old house can be unattractive.) The owner, Wayne, came over to my house, was very polite, friendly and professional, gave me an estimate and I hired him to do the job. Within a few days, his subcontract came out to put in the beams and start on the tuck pointing. He did a wonderful job on putting in the beams, but he barely touched the walls but he thought his job was done. He came back a second time to do the tuck pointing on the outside of the house and did some work on the basement walls. Again, he left as he thought the job was done. Additionally, in several spots he used silicone caulk to fill cracks. And by experience, I know you can't paint over silicone caulk! I almost cried when I saw that the mortar he used on the outside of my house didn't get tinted to the color that's in the existing mortar. It stood out like a sore thumb. And the work that he did in the basement walls was amateurish at best. It wasn't smooth, it didn't look good and it wasn't complete. At my request, he came out a third time with the owner who showed him what to do. He finished by putting tinted mortar over the stuff he'd already put on the outside and did a little more work on the basement walls. I wrote a letter to the owner and sent it along with the amount due in full. I was immediately contacted by Wayne who apologized for the work his sub had done. Wayne offered to put two coats of paint on the walls in the basement to make the work look a little better. Wayne did a great job. Although I noted I wouldn't use this company again, I would if I knew Wayne himself was going to do the work OR they were only going to be doing beams for me. Wayne did what he could to make the deal right and I appreciate that. In the end, I had issues with their sub more than anything else."

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Walton, NE

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
