"I had been wanting help with my landscaping for years. I had procrastinated getting things done for years because I know so little about landscaping and was intimidated by not knowing where to start. <br /> <br /> I've used a couple of other landscaping companies for minor things such as sprinkler maintenance, etc., but I didn't feel comfortable with them for a big job. I turned to Angie's List for help. I was impressed with Horticare's reviews and noticed that they were actually located in my neighborhood, so I gave them a call a couple of weeks ago. <br /> <br /> The receptionist was friendly and said that all of the people I would need to talk with were out on jobs, and that one of them would call me back soon. In just a few minutes, Jay called me and set up a time to come out to my house. <br /> <br /> Jay arrived at my home precisely when he said he would. He walked around my yard with me as I explained some of the issues I've had with dying grass, standing water, and areas where it was difficult for grass to grow (such as shady spots) in my back yard. <br /> <br /> He asked me several questions and said he had quite a backlog, but would get back with me within a week. A few days later he provided a proposal with a couple of options and some suggestions on how to spread out to work to manage costs. The proposal included drawings of the yard with the proposed layout of the landscaping. <br /> <br /> Knowing that landscaping work is generally expensive, the cost was in line with what I had expected it to be. I opted to have all the work done at once. I put down a 50 percent deposit and asked how soon they could get started. Jay said since it was their busiest time of year, it would be a couple of weeks before they could get to the work. <br /> <br /> About a week and a half later I came home and found my previous lawn and landscaping had been removed. When I came home from work the next day the crew was out working on my yard. When I pulled in they visited with me briefly and were very friendly. <br /> <br /> They finished the work today (about 4 days of work), and it looks very nice! I'm impressed that they were prompt, and that they were able to understand my problems and give me a beautiful yard without my having to be very knowledgable about landscaping."
