"S & S Electric did a fantastic job. They were friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and their price was better than all competitors'. They cleaned up after themselves, they did some extra work without trying to nickel and dime me. I am very happy with the work they performed and will gladly use them again."

"I’ve contracted Nick at least a half dozen times to install new services and update current electrical code work on my 50+ year old home. The project list is the following: 4 room ceiling fans with wall controls, 3 outdoor security/motion detector lights, 3 outdoor power outlets, 10 updated existing indoor outlets, 6 new (installation) indoor outlets, 6 room overhead light switch update (Including 2- 3 way switches), 2 outdoor lights installed Ran power to my shed (multiple outlets and lights). I only have the outlets in one lower level rec room to get updated to current electrical codes to bring my house into the 21st century. Please notify Nick for my contact info and a tour of his work."

"Preston was great to work with! He was quick to respond to my request for a quote and was at the house three days later to complete all of the work. He installed a hybrid car charger, fixed some outlets, installed a new thermostat and answered all my questions with patience and knowledge. Preston is incredibly friendly, worked so hard and I won’t hesitate to recommend him to family and friends and anyone else asking me if I know a good electrician!"

"I called them for a basic service the day after Snomagedon2015 fully expecting not to get anyone out for at least a few days. Someone was at my door within 3hrs! Answers all my silly questions, provided helpful information and advice and cleaned up when he was done. Will definitely be calling them back for future service and installation when the time comes!"

"The two young men who performed the installation were informative, professional, cordial, and they left the scene spotless. There was a technical problem with the engine on the generator itself, which they weren't able to help with, because they weren't licensed to work on the specific brand of generator. That might be something to check on before hiring for this type of job."

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in Webster, MA

There are several telltale signs that your home is due for an electrical upgrade. You may need to rewire your house if your lights are constantly flickering or your circuit breaker keeps tripping. If you feel mild electric shocks when you touch light switches, hear buzzing sounds, or notice burning smells, you may need to rewire your house, too. Discolored or burnt-looking switches and faceplates are another crucial warning sign.

Properly installed copper wiring in a residential property can last as long as 50 to 100 years in some cases, but many homes over 30 years old are due for an upgrade. That’s the timeline that many experts recommend, even if it is only a partial update to accommodate technological advancements, increased power demands, and changing safety requirements.

At $3 to $5 per square foot, the cost to wire a 2,000-square-foot house ranges from $6,000 to $10,000, on average. This can depend on many factors, like the age and complexity of the house and how easy it is for contractors to access the areas they need to get the job done. Opening and repairing walls can further add to your total cost.
