"There were large gaps between the pavers at the end of my driveway. When Pat got here, he convinced me to do additional work in other areas of the driveway. On the next visit, Pat said I should cut back some trees and shrubs around my property. A mature birch tree and an evergreen shrub was cut down to a stump, while I wasn't home. This appears to be part of his MO - as he added many things to the "verbal contract" every chance he got, doubling the contract price without providing any paperwork or receiving any signed approvals. Then when it came to payment he REQUIRED CASH. I am a small Asian woman and when questioning the quality of work he got visibly frustrated and shouted at me in front of my 8 year old that "[he] should have known better than to deal with a...." at which point I asked him to leave my property. The "great job" he did leaves my driveway looking aesthetically worse than when he started, and my pavers are still shifting - wish I could upload a short video."

"We hired Design First to redo our downstairs including a kitchen and bathroom. I would never recommend this company to anyone based on our experience with them. The company should be renamed Disappointment First. We used this company due to the recommendation of a friend but did not realize the ownership had changed. There are several other reviews that discuss how the company’s performance degraded with the new ownership. If you do use Design First, please learn from our mistakes in dealing with them and insist upon a firm completion date with a penalty per day for missing it. Several of their competitors offer this, and in our naivete we did not request a penalty for missing the completion date. We had a signed change order with a guaranteed 12/25/23 completion date, that they missed by several months. When we brought this up in discussions with them, they were dismissive and stated no penalty so nothing we can do."

These features required a team that could navigate the complexity of building with water runoff, preservation, and a balance between nature and hardscaping in mind. They absolutely nailed it! BSC installed a paver patio, replaced an old swail with a natural-looking boulder and cobblestone creek bed, cleared overgrown weeds, installed trees, and seeded large areas to expand our lawn to gain more space for kids to play. We just hired them again to redesign our front yard which includes a paver parking space and the installation of a property border featuring a range of plants and trees. We strongly recommend BSC Landscaping, LLC!"
