"I was not pleased with what I saw at the box stores and thought I’d look into having someone make my kitchen cabinets. John not only gave an excellent quote he also helped with custom details I never even thought of. That really complimented our kitchen tremendously. Professional service from start to finish. Highly recommend this company for any cabinetry."

"The crew was very professional. They were very easy to work with and didn’t hesitate to ask questions which was greatly appreciated. We had Kitchen and Dining room remodeled with all new cabinets and counter tops. The basic foot print didn't change much, but there was some electrical and plumbing for new fixtures. The quality was great, on budget and there were no delays due to AIP. Materials were either purchased directly or through a Kitchen Designer and we did have some delays due to material deliveries. So cost reflects mostly labor."

"James Hansen is the best carpenter and contractor I have ever hired.  Over the ten years I've known him, he has fixed many things in my house - dry wall rot, water damage on porch roof, damage caused by dogs, and more.  This past summer, we hired him to do a much bigger job - to renovate a downstairs bathroom to make it wheel-chair accessible.  James had excellent ideas, was very patient when we changed our minds, and his work was impeccable.  Our newly renovated bathroom, kitchen pantry and laundry room are gorgeous and stylish thanks to him.   <br /> If you want to do quality home renovation work, I highly recommend James Hansen of Berkshire Carpentry.  His workmanship is excellent and you will not be disappointed."

"These guys are the greatest! They saved us a lot of money! We had a dumpster before the bullbag and for 3 tons of material and a week rental of the dumpster it cost us $486! We own the bullbag now, had a full bag - 3.5 tons - picked up and it was only $229! We didn't have any rental charges, excess weight fees, or anything! These guys did everything they said they would! OMG! Everyone should use these guys!!!!! Also, I got the bullbag back! I never have to buy another one and its ready to use whenever I feel like doing a clean out or renovation."

"Dan did an absolutely amazing job for us repainting out kitchen cabinets. We had watched many of his videos and testimonials on his website dkhpainting.com. Dan is meticulous with his work and a complete pleasure to work with. He seems to enjoy explaining the process as thoroughly as one may want it. He kept to his schedule and was great with texting arrival times. Luckily he made a great suggestion of buying new drawer and door handles to update the look and also match the finish of our new interior door handles. I wish I was able to post before and after pictures within this review. We HIGHLY recommend DKH Cabinet Painting and will refer him any chance we get."

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in West Stockbridge, MA

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
