"Gustavo / Palmer trees did a great job trimming the big trees in my backyard. Space looks nice and clean. It is more open and still provides shade. They made sure to clean up and remove all debris as well."

Local small business where our main goal is your satisfaction. No job left with the customer unpleased. Look at our reviews on googles they speak for our quality of work themselves!
"Cory and his crew did an amazing job at our new house! If I could give 10 stars, I would! We recently moved into a house where the backyard was not taken care of for decades and we wanted to expand the yard. Cory and his team worked incredibly hard to do exactly what I envisioned. He even made sure to protect our walkway from getting damaged with his equipment! Thanks again, Cory and team!"

Mass Stump and Tree Removal opened its doors in 1965, by owner Peter Tankis. Peter truly enjoys his work, he is an extremely knowledgeable, dedicated and hard working man who has been climbing and caring for tree’s in the Blackstone Valley area and beyond for years before opening his own company. Peter has two sons by his wife Judy Tankis, Nathan and Jordan, who he has been passing his extensive knowledge in fine tree care to for many years. Nathan has been working with Peter since the early 90’s and is a very knowledgeable and a skilled arborist. Jordan has been full time with the company since the late 90’s and as well as his knowledge in fine tree care, he is also a skilled climber and bucket operator. Judy has also played a large role in the company since its inception. From answering business calls to book keeping to providing meals and caring for the work crew on a daily basis as if they where family. Peter has built his business on the grounds of outstanding tree care, customer satisfaction and safety for his workers and clients alike. Peter has always held to the important belief that being fully insured to protect his clients and those working for him is of top priority.
"We selected Mass. Stump & Tree Service after reading many favorable reviews about this companies services. We had overgrown arborvitaes, maple trees, and dead plum trees removed, and their stumps ground down in our front and backyard, and 3 other large maple trees pruned for better appearance. They came right on time with a 4 man crew and all of the necessary equipment, including a huge crane truck, tree chipper, and stump grinder. In a little over 4 hours they had completed all of the work that I had requested. I was impressed by their professionalism in everything they did, from expert pruning, to their careful work in removing a stump that was intertwined with our irrigation system valve box. There was no damage done to any of our underground pipes or cables, or any of our flower beds and gardens, even as they were pruning branches from trees right over these areas. When they finished, they cleaned up all the twigs, roots, and branches left on the lawn, only leaving the shavings from each stump removed. Since we live Shrewsbury, the logs from our maple trees that were cut down could not be removed as they could be hosts for the Asian long horned beetle. They did offer to transport the logs to the approved disposal site in Worcester, but we elected to keep the logs in our woodpile for firewood. We will certainly use this company in the future for all of our tree work as they are a great family team, devoted to customer satisfaction, and at a reasonable price."

"Jose and his crew were incredibly easy to get in touch with, prompt and gave an honest quote while working with us on our budget. Julio (and some of his family) worked tirelessly for 3-4 days to put in a 4 foot high, 60 foot long retaining wall that looks and feels amazing. Great drainage, perfectly flat top, and won't ever move. Highly recommend J. Gudiel Landscaping for any future projects."

You might remove a tree for free if it’s small, easy to reach, and your city doesn’t require a permit. Call the planning or public works office first to be sure. If they give you the green light, follow all safety rules, wear protective gear, and ask a friend to spot you. When in doubt—or if the tree is tall—hire a pro instead.
In many cities, you’ll need a permit—sometimes even an arborist’s report—before cutting down a tree. Start by calling your local building or planning department. They’ll tell you whether the tree is protected, how big it can be before a permit kicks in, and whether the work has to be done by a licensed pro. Get written approval before scheduling the job to stay on the right side of local rules.
It’s best to leave healthy trees alone—they add shade, boost curb appeal, and support wildlife. Take one down only if it’s dead, diseased beyond saving, or posing a real safety risk. Check local rules first; many areas protect heritage or street trees.
When removal seems necessary, bring in a licensed arborist for an on-site assessment and written recommendation before you book the crew.
If you’re torn between trimming, pruning, or full removal, start with an honest health check. Trim to shape the canopy or encourage new growth. Prune when you spot broken or diseased branches that could spread trouble.
Plan on removal only if the trunk is hollow, several major limbs are dead, storm damage is extensive, or the tree leans dangerously toward a structure.
A tree that’s 15 to 20 feet from your home isn’t automatically a problem. Healthy, small species often coexist just fine with houses. Trouble starts when the trunk shows decay, roots crack the foundation, or overhanging branches threaten the roof. Bring in a licensed arborist for a close look and written recommendation before you decide to remove or simply prune.
Timing hinges on size and complexity. A small tree might be gone in a few hours, a mid-sized one in half a day, and a giant could keep the crew busy for one to two full workdays. Add extra time if you’re grinding the stump, hauling wood, or navigating tight spaces near power lines or fences.
