"I had such a great experience with Big Lake Tree service! They removed a large tree and ground down the stump, the whole process was smooth from start to finish. The crew was professional, efficient and left the yard spotless! It’s hard to find people who take this much pride in doing their work. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone needing any tree work done!"

"I submitted my request to Home Advisor. The website said I would be contacted by fun to five companies. Gibson’s called me within an hour of my inquiry. A rep came to look at the tree stump I needed removed. I received an estimate through email withiin a few days . I wasn’t in any rush, since their company was from out of the Lansing area, I asked if it could be removed within a two-three week period. I was again notified of the date ahead of time through email. The price for removal was very reasonable. The team of three arrived with their equipment and in less than half an hour, my stump and roots were gone, my yard was cleaned up, and the area was leveled out before they left. I read their reviews ahead of time. Someone complained their tree wasn’t ground the same day it was removed. Those are two difficult jobs. Stump removal requires heavy equipment. For the price and quality of service it is worth going with their company and taking two days to complete the job. T.Weber"

"Kyle and his crew arrived on the day they said they would. The communication with them went well. They cut every limb and tree we requested, made sure I was satisfied, then were willing to get out the equipment again and cut one more limb that I decided needed to go. They were polite and professional. Our trees look so much better! Their cleanup afterwards was also good, which I appreciated. I would definitely hire them for any future work on my trees."

FAQs for tree stump removal projects in Whitmore Lake, MI

Always transport chainsaws with the engine off and chain brake engaged. Use the protective bar cover provided by the rental company to prevent accidental contact with the cutting chain. Position the chainsaw securely in your vehicle to prevent movement during transit, ideally in a truck bed or trunk rather than the passenger compartment.

For gas models, ensure the fuel cap is tight and position the saw to minimize potential leakage. Keep the chainsaw away from passengers and other items that could be damaged.

Proper safety equipment is essential when operating any chainsaw. At minimum, you should have eye protection (safety glasses or a face shield), hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs), cut-resistant gloves, chainsaw chaps or pants, and sturdy boots with good traction.

Many rental facilities offer basic safety kits alongside chainsaw rentals. If you'll be using chainsaws regularly, investing in quality personal safety gear is advisable. Never operate a chainsaw without appropriate protective equipment, regardless of the job size.

While rental companies will rent chainsaws to beginners, inexperience significantly increases safety risks. If you've never used a chainsaw before, request a demonstration from the rental staff and thoroughly review the operator's manual before starting. Begin with smaller, more manageable cutting tasks to build comfort with the tool's operation.

For significant cutting jobs, consider either taking a chainsaw safety course first or hiring professionals instead. The learning curve for safe chainsaw operation is steep, and caution is paramount.

If mechanical problems develop during your rental, immediately cease operation and contact the rental company. Most reputable rental businesses will either provide a replacement chainsaw or repair the equipment if the breakdown resulted from normal use rather than misuse. Document the issue with photographs when possible and maintain records of when you reported the problem.

Having your rental agreement readily available when you call will expedite the resolution process. The rental company should adjust your rental period to account for any downtime.
