I spent 3 hours on the phone with him discussing my roof and the different options from metal roofs to asphalt singles, but perhaps most importantly was his detailed evaluation of the venting. My house is a modular house that was essentially 2 halfs bolted together. Because of this, there is not a true ridge beam. Thus, a ridge vent would not properly ventilate the attic as there is not enough opening to be covered by the standard ridge vents. Instead, an attic fan was required to remove the moisture and heat from the attic. While John was not the cheapest, he was nowhere near the most expensive. So what made me choose him was a comfort level that I had that he would do the right thing and did not try and sell me on expensive synthetic underlayments, that in reality were not needed. At the end of the day, John was able to completely tear off and replace my 30x60 foot ranch house in one day. And then completed the 24x24 attached garage the next day.
