"Carolina Roofing and Gutters did an excellent job! They found rot behind some of our fascia board and brought it to our attention and then repaired it at an excellent price point, same day. I really appreciate the extra lengths they went to in order to do the job right when they could have put new fascia board and gutters and we would have never known the difference. Thank you, Carolina Roofing. We will definitely call again if/when we need future work. A+."

"A neighbor was having a new roof installed by The Remodeling Company, and our lawn was slightly damaged in the process. When I went to talk to Pauleta Price about it, she was incredibly impressive. She had the entire issue resolved within an hour. Not only is Pauleta hard-working, with a get-it-done attitude, she is incredibly friendly and made what could have been a difficult situation a pleasure. If I ever need remodeling work done, Pauleta Price at The Remodeling Company will be my first call!"

"They did a good job. It took them not quite 2 days to complete the work. They cleaned up everything and even our neighbors have commented on the new roof roof. They did a good job and their work is guaranteed for up to 50 years."

"Excellent. Metalworks completed the job as scheduled and were very efficient, professional, and orderly while doing it! Our roof looks spectacular and there was absolutely no mess when they left. Dave came by during both days of the roof install to check with us and see if everything was satisfactory. His crew was very polite and hard-working. The roof and the flashing look well done and they used only the highest quality products. I am very happy with the work and would definitely use them again. <br />"

"A storm caused some faulty flashing on my roof to let water in and create a ceiling leak. I took a chance on Iron Horse Roofing based on several positive reviews. Glad I did. Even though they were busy, they made time to come out and were able to fix it right then and there and a very fair price. They even replaced the wet drywall in the ceiling."

"There was damaged done to the roof because the gutters leaked. The initial contact that came to my house should have received a "C", but the onsite man did a great job he redesigned the gutter plans making the repair run smoothly."

"Everyone I talked to was very helpful and easy to work with. I solicited quotes from several of the highest-rated roofing companies I could find, and Roof Roof was both the easiest to work with and the cheapest quote. My experience was excellent - they had an experienced roofer out very quickly to tear out and completely redo two improperly shingled valleys on my home, and had the job done in a matter of hours. No more leaks, and when he was done, everything was done the way it should have been the first time. Cleanup was perfect - not a single nail or shingle to be found in the yard - far more than I can say for the company that installed it in the first place. I would recommend Roof Roof for roof service needs, and would use them again in the future."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Wilson, NC

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
