"After years of painting our home it was time to move up to a better solution. After searching the Better Business Bureau for local companies Krumwiede Home Pros stood out. They were top rated with 0 complaints. We were even able to initiate contact for a quote through the BBB. Michael was our salesperson and he was upfront and honest in capabilities and pricing. The pricing was so great we even upgraded to an insulated vinyl siding and we were still under what others quoted. We then met with Ross the production manager who went over every aspect of the job with us. This was great because we worked out any issues ahead of time. There were no surprises and we were all on the same page. The 2 gentlemen who came to do the work were great also. They showed up on time and worked hard everyday. They never left a mess and were easy to communicate with. We are very happy with the whole experience and our house looks awesome! Thanks Krumwiede Home Pros we are happy we met you!"

"Frank was a pleasure to work with as were his carpenter Chris and painter Tim. They were all professional and great problem solvers when issues occurred. We were very happy with the final result and considering the number of cabinets involved, probably saved at least $40,000-$60,000 over replacing them with new cabinets."

"We cannot say enough about Roselle Custom Woodwork. We worked primarily with John Valentine who is professional and conscientious to a fault. John's partner, Steve Wright, was involved in the installation of the cabinets, and we found him to be very professional and nice as well. First of all, John came to see our space and gave us some good ideas about how he would redesign the kitchen. He was personable and professional and drew up plans right away as we were working with a contractor and there was a timeline involved. John took us through all phases of the custom work, had us come to the shop to see the design which he had all laid out in the work area of his shop, and showed us the how well built they were. We were extremely impressed with the quality of the plywood! John helped me choose the placement of certain aspects of the kitchen as well as the special items we needed such as the utensil pull-out drawer , the garbage pull-out, the mixer cabinet that pops up when needed, the silverware drawer and the partition compartments above the refrigerator for storage of trays, cookie sheets, etc. Marvelous!!! John's attention to detail was second to none. We never imagined our kitchen would look so beautiful and it is all thanks to Roselle Custom Woodwork! We would not hesitate to contact them in the future for any job as no job is too large or too small for this excellent company. They deserve the best recommendation available!!"

"We wanted our kitchen cabinets refinished rather than replacing them.  We contacted Save Wood based on reviews from Angie's List. Dave came out to our home, brought samples of their work and gave us a price. He was very friendly and answered our questions.  It seemed reasonable and we decided to go with them. He said the holidays were approaching and they were busy, so it would be a couple of weeks before they would begin the process.  Overall, once they were finished, we were pleased with the cabinets. Save Wood added trim, glazed it as we asked and they look very nice.  However, there were things along the way that we were not as pleased about.  We were not aware that it would take over 3 months for the work.  Many messages and emails were not responded to during the process.  Since completion I have emailed and called and these have not been responded to.  There were a couple of times I visited their workspace, to keep things moving. Everyone I encountered was friendly. <p>Would I use them again?  I'm not sure. Although the quality was good and I love my cabinets, the responsiveness needed improvement and was very frustrating during the process. </p> <br />"

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Woodstock, IL

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
