"William Burden is the third generation owner of WBLightningRods and his company has been in business since 1950. He is very courteous, professional, was on time, and has a very good crew. William was present for the entire installation. We chose the copper system. We are glad for the peace of mind a lightning rod system will provide."

"when tech showed up the dryer seemed to be working and heating however it did not when I called, seemed the heating element was cracked creating and off and on working condition. I went ahead to repair the problem by purchasing a new heating element. I was surprised however that the tech expected me to pay in full before he ordered the part and repaired the problem, but I did using my credit card knowing if there was a issue the credit card co. would have my back, The part was order and Alex fixed it as soon as it came in and was great"

"20-OCT-2014 <br /> Overall we are very pleased with the work. <br /> I will add a more detailed review in the summer after our new roof has had a chance to go through the winter and spring weather. <br /> <br /> 13-APR-2015 <br /> Spring update. <br /> Well, we survived the winter with no leaks in our roof. I would still recommend Pearl Contractors for any roofing work that you may need. <br /> <br /> Spring 2015. <br /> Contacted Pearl to inform them that the flashing around my chimney is leaking. <br /> <br /> August 2015 <br /> After some discussion with Troy, the owner and Chris his assistant manager we have decided that the flashing around the chimney should have been replaced at the time of the original installation. because it was not, Pearl Contractor's has replaced the flashing as a warranty repair. Pearls states this chimney flashing is a $750 value. I am happy to have a roof that no longer leaks."

"I researched several companies on line after deciding I didn?t want to try this myself, having opened an iPod before and encountered a problem. I was not pleased with the price of batteries or service from other companies. Then a friend recommended ?iResQ.? I checked out the website, and called. They answered the phone. That alone was a great sign. The price was right, the process was easy and fast, so I gave it a try. They received it, replaced the battery sent it out UPS the same day. I got it 2 days later. They answered email promptly and were friendly and knowledgeable on the phone. I?ll go back whenever I need Apple products repaired."

"I found the site over the web and contacted thecompany. From pictures sent via email, they helped me decide on size, and design elements and promptly sent me referrence since they reside outside my area. The item was made, shipped and damaged in transit and they took care of details of returning item to them, dealing wiht the insurance company, correcting the issue, keeping me up to date in the process and remaking the awning and getting it back to me. They supplied detailed instruction to my contractor for installation and were available via phone for consult during the process. I am very pleased."

"Jim got the job done right and for a very fair price. I am very happy with the work and will definitely hire him again the next time I need some electrical work done. <br /> I had some electrical receptacles in my 1940s home that were three-prong, but whoever installed the newer receptacles didn't rewire them so the ground prong would actually be hooked up to something. I noticed this when UPSes plugged in to the outlets indicated wiring problems, and then I confirmed the specific issue with a receptacle tester. I also wanted to add some outlets to a room and in the basement, plus add an RJ45 jack to get gigabit network connectivity from my office down to some equipment in the basement. <br /> Jim is a busy guy, so it was a bit challenging to connect with him to get an estimate on my job. Once we did get together, I appreciated his insights about what he would do as we discussed the problems I wanted resolved. He turned a quote around overnight. I again had a bit of difficulty in getting a firm response on scheduling the work, but a few days later I received a call from him to schedule it a week out. Total time from first contact to the job being done was about a month. <br /> The job took about seven hours. While he was working he went above and beyond to fix some other surprises that he came across while rewiring the open-ground outlets. The new receptacles are neatly installed and everything works great, as expected! <br />"

FAQs for generator repair projects in Pembroke, ME

There is often some confusion about the type of work these professionals do. They only work on electrical systems such as outlets, lighting fixtures and electrical panels – they aren’t appliance repairmen.

There are three types of electricians: Master, Journeyman and Apprentice. Electrical licensing varies quite a bit by state. Some have licenses for apprentices and some do not. Some have a master’s rank while others stop at journeyman. Despite the differences, they all require a minimum amount of experience and usually classroom time.

  • Apprentice electricians aren’t usually licensed and spend 4 years learning the trade. Throughout that time, they work on a wide range of projects to learn to become a Journeyman. They’ll do basic work like installing fixtures and replacing outlets all the way to assisting in wiring a home. Regardless of the type of project, they must always be supervised by a Journeyman or Master electrician.

  • Journeymen work without supervision. In a few states, this is the highest level available and they can do all levels of work from wiring a new home to installing a light. In some states, they need a separate electrical contractor license to run a business. In places with a master’s level, a journeyman can do all work besides design new electrical systems.

  • Master electricians usually manage a shop, design new electrical systems in new construction and oversee both Journeyman and Apprentices. They typically bid new projects. Though they focus on larger projects, it’s not unheard of for a homeowner to request a Master Electrician for a house call. If you do, expect to spend up to 25% more for the visit.

Generally, you don’t tip electricians, but that’s not to say they don’t appreciate it if you do. You can offer them something to drink or eat, like coffee and donuts. Most will appreciate it if you do.

The education and certifications required to become an electrician vary by state, though they generally follow this list:

  1. Apprentice

    • Does not always require a license depending on the state.

    • Learns on the job under Journeyman and Master Electricians.

    • Usually needs 4 years on-the-job training before they can test for a Journeyman license. Many states also require a technical degree to advance.

    • Always require supervision.

  2. Journeyman

    • Needs between 8,000 to 10,000 hours of on-the-job training and usually 500 to 1,000 hours of classroom experience.

    • Can usually supervise apprentices.

    • They can diagnose and repair electrical problems.

  3. Master

    • Achieved after an additional two years (4,000 hours) working as a Journeyman and taking the Master Electrician Exam.

    • Besides diagnosing and repairing electrical systems, they also design them. In most places they run shops and inspect Journeyman and Apprentice work.

    • Not a recognized rank in all states.

  4. Electrical Contractor License is an optional license in some states for a Master Electrician to run a business. Some states have this instead of the Master license.

Electricians make an average of $26 per hour but it ranges with experience and licensing. An apprentice may make about half that while a Master Electrician may hit closer to $40 per hour. This figure represents how much they make; not how much they bill. Their salary is only one component of their costs. They must also figure in overhead, taxes, equipment, insurance and several other expenses.

Leave electrical work to the professionals. Electrical systems are complex and potentially hazardous when not handled and installed correctly. If it were easy, it wouldn’t take 4 years to become a journeyman or 6 years for a master’s license. If you are determined to forge ahead yourself, understand home electrical safety before beginning any project.Even for simple common electrical projects, a licensed pro is best. Not only is it safer, but contractors guarantee and insure their work. Hire a professional to keep your home’s electrical systems functioning properly and safely.
