Comment: Our toilet has overflowed and leaked into the basement in the past. The main problem now is that we had a major sewer drain backup that flooded 2 rooms of our basement. I didn't even know there was a drain there because some idiot before me carpeted right over it. Before the contractor came out I spent many, many hours using a wet vac and dehumidifier, and now it is full and too heavy for me to take up stairs and outside. I also laid down biodegradable cat litter to soak up any excess waste water and any further surges. So now my basement is covered with damp raw sewage and remnants of cat litter. Among the soiled items are carpet/pad - again, I didn't install -, cabinets that were sitting on the floor waiting for a future remodel, 1 - maybe 2 - couches, possibly a table, drywall, framing lumber, and possibly more that I can't remember.
