"I have a house with circa 1890's brick and mortar that once had seashells in it. David Ricard gave me a fair estimate to fill in mortar where a house brick was party broken by a telecom company and where some mortar fell out from an area a larger masonry company had repointed a few years before. David and his brother showed up on time, did the work in a reasonable amount of time, and cleaned up after. He showed that he understands different kinds of brick and the mortar required. I wish I had known about David before I hired that other company a few years before because the larger company didn't do a particularly good repointing job. I have upcoming mortar work needed on my front walkway and will be calling David for that repair. I would definitely hire him again and recommend him to others."

"Mottern did a fantastic job designing and installing a large flagstone-on-concrete patio for us. The work included excavating and leveling the site, pouring and re-enforcing the slab, and selecting and purchasing the stone, brick and other materials. In addition to the patio, Mottern also filled in an approx. 12 sq/ft section of brick wall where a door had been converted to a window. The filled-in brick and mortar matches the original 50-year old wall perfectly. Overall, the entire Mottern crew was prompt, responsive, professional, and very skillful. We would definitely use Mottern again."

"Wow!!! This was not an easy project to describe and bid, largely because what we were trying to accomplish is quite unique. The property had a tricky change of elevation and undulation, and as far as materials, we wanted to blend the stone into an already existing stone garden design already on the property and adjacent to the to be installed fence. We wanted carderock stone that was identical in size and color pattern to what we had already - this is not as easy as simply going to the same quarry, which First Impressions gladly did. It is really a job that requires great skill and attention to detail to match the new wall perfectly, which they did. From start to finish, there were no issues. I was most impressed with four things - 1) the finished product, which completely blew us away, 2) the professionalism and integrity of the entire crew - from Mike the very thoughtful designer and primary point of contact who figured out how to make our vision work on the property (he brought a few very good suggested changes as well), to John the onsite project manager, to the stone layers, the wood workers and the lighting installers - they each wanted to make the customer happy, and obviously took great pride in their work, 3) the price, which was around 10 percent less than two other real bids, and 4) the reasonable time to completion, clean/tidy work site, and respectfulness toward our neighbors throughout the few week project. For us, this was our first sizable home project - Mike and John made use very comfortable throughout that our personal investment in our property was being taken very seriously by each of them - we felt that they wanted it to look even better than we did, which is a great feeling. When you get a better product than you could have imagined, that is hassle free and reasonably priced, it is tough not to be happy with the experience. I have nothing but positive impressions of First Impressions, and would very happily work with them again.

"Mr. Minor (Melvin) came to our home and did an excellent job removing all of the grass from the area between our stone patio pavers, and then he proceeded to fill in those cracks with a sealant to prevent any further growth of grass & weeds in the patio area. He also applied a protective coating over the patio. He arrived on time and worked efficiently. The patio looks great now--better than new! We are definitely pleased with his work. "We have nothing but great things to say about our experience working with this company. The project was well run. The workers were very diligent and cleaned up every evening before they left. There was a point in which the workers were going to lay pavers according to the drawings and clearly it was not going to look good so they stopped and immediately had their supervisor contact us and gave us recommendations. We also planned to reuse material from an existing retaining wall to rebuild the wall. The shape and height required us to need more stone. Mike went above and beyond to help us locate the stone that had been discontinued. They were always extremely responsive. If they were not able to answer the phone we always received a return call promptly. The pavers are beautiful, the wall ties in nicely to our pool, the fireplace is the favorite gathering place, the mulch, grading, topsoil and seeding has created a very welcoming backyard. They were very accommodating to changes. We had a stacked stone border around an existing flower bed that was up against the brand new pavers and it did not look right. They let us change the plans and incorporated a stone border for the bed which is just beautiful. What was a space that was never used has now become our oasis."

"I am very pleased with the work from Elijah, his team led by Victor, and Cassella Landscaping. I hired them to replaced old rotting timbers of the wood trim of the yard of my townhouse. I have never hired a hardscaping contractor and most photos from others are of stone work. After emailing a few contractors, Elijah was very prompt to respond but I ended up going with a different contractor because our schedules lined up sooner. This ended up being a disaster - we ended up having the first contractor pull up the poorly laid timbers so we could start over from scratch. I ended up reaching out to Elijah again, and he was so professional and courteous. He answered all my questions, gave me multiple quotes, and was flexible with the price after our neighbors decided they did not want us replacing the timbers that were on their property line. Elijah worked us into their schedule promptly, and his crew paid great attention to detail, even offering to fill in the gap in our driveway left by installing the timbers straight with asphalt! His crew led by Victor was very communicative, checking in with me in the middle of the project to make sure I was satisfied before proceeding further. One issue I had with the first contractor I worked with was he cut awkwardly small pieces of wood to save on buying more wood. Victor cut nice long piece - and even went out to buy another plank of wood in the middle of the project to make sure it looked nice. They definitely do not cut corners! The price they quoted was higher than the first contractor, but I felt it was reasonable, and they definitely are worth it, especially given how professional and responsive they were to work with, and their expertise and attention to detail during the installation. Overall, I can't recommend them enough! I will definitely be reaching out to them again if any other projects come up!"
