And then when we told him $1600 was too much, he wanted to add trees and wanted to pick out our trees. "We just purchased our house last fall and found out that the previous owners had sold all of the shutters for the home.  In January, I stopped by D&D?s showroom to take a look at their products and learn about our options.  After talking w/ Cary a bit, he said he could stop by that afternoon to take a look at the house.


Our windows were updated and energy efficient, but not impact. We planned on only getting aluminum shutters. Unfortunately, shuttering windows, with the stone façade, to code was proving to be a challenge. Cary?s recommendation for hurricane protecting the house, was to install impact windows on the front (stone façade), shuttering the front door, garage door, all side windows, and using Armor Screen to shutter the patio, which would protect the entire patio, as well as the French doors and kitchen window.  I had never heard of Armor Screen, but was intrigued.  I was determined to get a better price and find someone that would just shutter the front of the house, instead of replacing the windows, but after researching my options and having four more companies come out, I realized that Cary?s suggestions were the best way to go and he was the person that I felt the most confidence in. D&D also had the best price. 


Thus far, we had all of the windows on the front of the house replaced w/ impact windows, as well as the garage door, even though he did say he could shutter the garage w/o damaging the stones. For the most part, everything went smoothly, but when we did have an issue, D&D promptly came out to address it and with a smile. :)


Originally, I was averse to replacing the windows because I didn?t want to deal w/ any type of construction but Cary, Brian, Hernan, Bob, Randy and Orlando are so good at their craft and have such pleasant personalities, that it was a pleasant experience having them in our home. We were planning on having D&D shutter the side windows, because I didn't want to deal w/ any more construction, but replacing the front windows went so well and was so painless, that now we're looking into having D&D replace the side windows instead of just shuttering them."

The biggest challenge was matching up the height and spacing within a frame of existing bricks. on a concrete bed. This required a little rework which was done promptly as well as a second coat of sealer to satisfy my preferences. Vince, the owner, had promised me a beautiful floor and he worked closely with me until I was fully satisfied without trying to get extra money for the extra effort. .An amazing business ethic hard to find these days.
