Within 2 days of our call, Joe Tavella (Owner) came to our home to give us an estimate. We explained what our ideas were and Joe even added further suggestions to improving the design. Joe, through his expertise and knowledge was able to do what 3 other contractors told us they couldn't do. After knowing this and with a fair quote, we asked Joe when can he start the job. The job was then completed in a very timely manner (in 1 day). Joe and his team were neat reliable, efficient, meticulous and took real pride to producing top quality work. "Upon a recommendation from a neighbor, we requested an estimate from Quality 1st for two jobs -- inspect and repair a brick chimney and repair our stone porch which had started to sink. Oscar came out within a couple of days, talked about the project, sent us an estimate and we hired his company. Couldn't be happier. Oscar told us the job would take one day, and we were a bit skeptical about that. But he did it and he did it well! Two crews came out and while one tackled the repair and repointing of our chimney, the other worked on our porch. Watching the crew repair the porch was amazing. We requested all the stones be reused because they were original to the house. When each stone was lifted, it was placed "puzzle-like" on a tarp, and after reinforcement of the sunken parts of the porch, the stones were replaced in the the same manner in which they were removed. The chimney is fixed and no longer losing bricks. We trust every bit of the work performed that day. The crew was friendly, polite, and knowledgeable--and Oscar worked right beside them. I would absolutely hire Quality 1st Maintenance again."

"Sal and his crew did a lot of work for us last year - paver walkways, patio, and raised deck. He was great, quick, reasonable and we were thrilled with the work. We’ve gotten lots of compliments on the yard since then. We had a pool added on to the paver deck since then and when we reopened the pool this year we noticed that the pavers had sunken in a bit in the middle. I waited all summer to call Sal about it because I was afraid of the hassle I was sure it would be to get it fixed. I emailed Sal this week and he called me within 24 hours. He came that day to look at it and within another 24 hours, he and his crew had repaved the whole deck. No questions and no charge. He also replaced two stones that we had damaged, as a courtesy. Such a pleasure to work with and we’ll continue to give him our business."

"Short version: Though the guys were respectful and the fireplace was cleaned, there was lousy, mismatched communication on the company s end that was frustrating and left me feeling like this transaction had an element of bait and switch. Long version: Called and advised I wanted the fire place inspected, cleaned, and the damper looked at. The lady asked if it was wood burning, I said yes. I asked whether someone would be going on the roof to inspect the chimney and I was told yes. When the guys showed up, one of the reps started talking about cleaning my heating flue and needed to go to the basement. I told him I made an appt to have my fireplace inspected and cleaned. He repeated he was told he was there for the heating flue. I told him I didn t know what he was talking about and I called. The same lady said, oh, that s an option for an addtl fee. it s important to have that cleaned esp with oil heat. I told her I didn t have oil heat and asked her why the guys don t know about cleaning the fireplace and are focused on my heating flue vent. She just said you can just have your fireplace cleaned then. I consulted my brother to see if we should have the heating flue cleaned and he said for the price, why not. Next thing we re talking about $1300 liners, which they left an estimate for. I asked one of the reps if he was going on the roof as part of the inspection, and he said no, it looks good from here, you have caps on the chimney and the bricks look fine. I didn t want to argue about what the lady had told me. I went to pay and discovered they charged a fee for credit cards which the lady did not disclose. Though it wasn t a big fee, I could have gotten the cash. The experience just left a bad taste to what otherwise could have been a quick cleaning and better review."
