"Mottern did a fantastic job designing and installing a large flagstone-on-concrete patio for us. The work included excavating and leveling the site, pouring and re-enforcing the slab, and selecting and purchasing the stone, brick and other materials. In addition to the patio, Mottern also filled in an approx. 12 sq/ft section of brick wall where a door had been converted to a window. The filled-in brick and mortar matches the original 50-year old wall perfectly. Overall, the entire Mottern crew was prompt, responsive, professional, and very skillful. We would definitely use Mottern again."

"The job was labor intensive. The wall was done with great artistry. I was pleased throughout until I tried to get the walkway sealed as
Bill suggested to avoid deterioration in the future. He gave me a quote and said they would come in a month when the grout was cured. I also needed one stone fixed that my husband had broken. After dozens of calls and emails to Custom Masonry, I never got a returned call or email. 
Bill spoke of their guarantee for a year, but I don't think that would hold up either since they stay out of contact.
If they are still in business, I assume they don't want a small left over job. This was disappointing after such good service and I will need to hire another company for the follow up.

"Wow!!! This was not an easy project to describe and bid, largely because what we were trying to accomplish is quite unique. The property had a tricky change of elevation and undulation, and as far as materials, we wanted to blend the stone into an already existing stone garden design already on the property and adjacent to the to be installed fence. We wanted carderock stone that was identical in size and color pattern to what we had already - this is not as easy as simply going to the same quarry, which First Impressions gladly did. It is really a job that requires great skill and attention to detail to match the new wall perfectly, which they did. From start to finish, there were no issues. I was most impressed with four things - 1) the finished product, which completely blew us away, 2) the professionalism and integrity of the entire crew - from Mike the very thoughtful designer and primary point of contact who figured out how to make our vision work on the property (he brought a few very good suggested changes as well), to John the onsite project manager, to the stone layers, the wood workers and the lighting installers - they each wanted to make the customer happy, and obviously took great pride in their work, 3) the price, which was around 10 percent less than two other real bids, and 4) the reasonable time to completion, clean/tidy work site, and respectfulness toward our neighbors throughout the few week project. For us, this was our first sizable home project - Mike and John made use very comfortable throughout that our personal investment in our property was being taken very seriously by each of them - we felt that they wanted it to look even better than we did, which is a great feeling. When you get a better product than you could have imagined, that is hassle free and reasonably priced, it is tough not to be happy with the experience. I have nothing but positive impressions of First Impressions, and would very happily work with them again.

"The crew built a new wall and rebuilt an existing walkway in my back yard. It took them two day to complete the project and a few extra hours to tidy up a few minor things. "We have nothing but great things to say about our experience working with this company. The project was well run. The workers were very diligent and cleaned up every evening before they left. There was a point in which the workers were going to lay pavers according to the drawings and clearly it was not going to look good so they stopped and immediately had their supervisor contact us and gave us recommendations. We also planned to reuse material from an existing retaining wall to rebuild the wall. The shape and height required us to need more stone. Mike went above and beyond to help us locate the stone that had been discontinued. They were always extremely responsive. If they were not able to answer the phone we always received a return call promptly. The pavers are beautiful, the wall ties in nicely to our pool, the fireplace is the favorite gathering place, the mulch, grading, topsoil and seeding has created a very welcoming backyard. They were very accommodating to changes. We had a stacked stone border around an existing flower bed that was up against the brand new pavers and it did not look right. They let us change the plans and incorporated a stone border for the bed which is just beautiful. What was a space that was never used has now become our oasis."
