"I have done a lot of research into soundproofing and had a quite a few contractors stop by for an evaluation and a quote over the past couple years, and Robert stood out with his friendly demeanor, level of knowledge, and being easy to talk to; he seemed to have good experience in soundproofing and actually knew soundproofing concepts I'd read up on earlier (surprisingly many other drywall contractors were either evasive in rating their confidence in their proposed projects or simply did not have good plans or knowledge of options). He worked with me on a plan to redo a wall separating my bedroom from noisy neighbors, and the result is excellent! Robert and his team have turned a single stud wall into a decoupled double stud wall, with all the right elements for soundproofing, such as quality insulation, acoustic caulk and dampening compound (both by Green Glue), socket putty, etc. Robert's choice of materials was well informed, and the quality of his work was very good, neat, and precise. I could tell he enjoys doing his work well. He cleaned up after the job was done, and the new wall was perfectly plastered--all I had left to do was to paint (which I enjoy doing myself). The total expense was very reasonable for the cost of materials and labor. I also appreciated that Robert always kept me up-to-date on his schedule and coordinated his visits--great communication. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the experience and glad that I found Robert and his team! I can heartily recommend his services for your drywall and related projects! I'd like to also note for general reference that soundproofing is a global project: learn the weak areas where the sound travels--it's frequently not just your walls, but also through your floors and through your ceilings, including from neighbors on the same floor as you! You may think that just fixing one area will solve everything, but sound wave propagation needs to be considered from all directions/sources, and week areas need to be identified: e.g. you may need to redo your wall and your floor, for example, or your wall and your ceiling, or all 3 at once, depending on your exact needs and situation."

"The MJM Crew led by Matt did an excellent job. I could not be more satisfied with the finished work. They were on time and cleaned up after themselves. The pricing was reasonable as well. I would hire them again for any projects involving plaster."

"Spent $350 to patch an area of horsehair plaster (that had separated from the lathe) with drywall. Responsive and thorough."

Customers say: Quick response
"Matt was super responsive and kind. He got in and did the job within days of us requesting a quote. We are finishing our basement which is cement blocks. We attempted to start to plaster and decided we could not do it. Matt and his team plastered the walls over where we had failed and made them look gorgeous. We were not home at the time and when we got home, our jaws dropped. Highly recommend."

"Sergjo did a great job and I would reccomend him without hesitation. I have some experience with wallboard and plastering, but his work is on another level. It's obvious that he's been doing this work for a long time."

"Lindo and his team are not only the best at what they do, but they're a pleasure to deal with! Our first experience with Supreme Painters was having our living room (horsehair plaster walls and crumbling plaster ceiling) completely redone, while having the plaster preserved. We got several quotes and Lindo's was not the lowest, but we felt he was the most honest person we spoke with, and opted to go with Supreme. During the job, Lindo's team was prompt, meticulous, and went above and beyond to protect other areas of the home while they worked. They smoothed all trim, sealed the walls, repaired the ceiling, skim coated everything beautifully - truly impossible to know it was ever less than perfect in a room that REALLY needed help - and it still looks just as good over three years later. Their painting was on point, and in that room, we'd had new wood windows installed. Lindo's foreman worked with us to mix stains until we found just the perfect shade to match an old fireplace, and he worked with the store to have it custom made. The result was worth every penny - so much so that we've gone back to Lindo and his team to have our bedroom redone, and then our office, and now our dining room. Every time, they have gone above and beyond (and Lindo even recently swooped in on a moment's notice to help us out after another floor installation left the bottoms of our kitchen walls badly damaged. Go with Supreme. They live up to their name."

Load-bearing walls support the weight of your home's structure, including floors, roofs, and other building components. Non-load-bearing walls, on the other hand, serve only as partitions or room dividers. All exterior walls are typically load-bearing, even if they have design features like bump-outs or large glass panels. These walls need precise construction to ensure your home's structural integrity.
Removing a wall costs anywhere from $300 to $10,000 , depending on the size and whether it's load-bearing. Removing load-bearing walls is a more labor-intensive process and typically costs more. To get an accurate estimate for your project, consult a local contractor with the specifics of your wall.
Yes, there are other projects you can tackle at the same time when building a wall. Upgrading to energy-efficient windows or doors can enhance your home’s sustainability and can be integrated into the wall construction process. You might also consider removing existing walls to create an open-concept layout or building a home addition for extra space. Coordinating multiple projects can be cost-effective and streamline your renovation timeline. Discuss your goals with a contractor to help you plan effectively and maximize the benefits of your renovation.
The cost to build a partition wall varies depending on the size and type you choose. Half walls that don't reach the ceiling cost about $10 to $20 per linear foot . Full partition walls made with drywall may cost more due to additional materials and labor. Prices for accordion or panel walls vary widely based on materials and design. Factors like electrical work, insulation, and finishes will also influence your total cost.
Framing is the backbone of wall construction, creating a secure structure that supports everything else. Quality framing ensures that studs, electrical wiring, and plumbing are properly integrated into your home's design. A professional installer uses reliable materials like wood or metal to build a framework that meets building codes and ensures your wall is durable and safe.
