"Ernest of A&J diagnosed our problem, then did the research to identify the right product to solve it, placed the order for us, picked up the tiles, and then expertly installed them on our deck. We are delighted with the product and most especially delighted with Ernest's dedicated service, including both the diagnosis and installation."

"Working with Dave's company couldn't have been smoother from start to finish. I was looking for someone to do exterior painting and found Dave on Angie's List.  I filled out a form on his website to ask for a bid. Dave responded promptly, got a bid out right away and immediately got me on their calendar after I accepted the bid. His work schedule is on a calendar on-line, so you can see when your painting is scheduled, which is very handy. The painters did excellent work, and they were quick, efficient and very neat. When they were done, Dave made sure I was happy with the work, then e-mailed the bill (his prices are very fair) and that was all there was to it.  One of the most pleasant, painless experiences I've had dealing with a contractor.  The most difficult part of the entire process was trying to decide which color to choose out of the six samples that we had painted on the back of the house.  :-)  I would not hesitate to recommend Dave to anyone looking for exterior painting.

"I contacted Jim Burke of Crestone about making a small repair to the 2nd floor deck of my house. After checking more thoroughly it was found there were a number of boards with significant decay. Many of the boards were so bad, there was nothing to hold a screw or nail. The small repair I had in mind would have left the deck dangerous, still not meeting building codes, and would have staved off replacement by only a year or two. Steve, the project manager, made suggestions that resulted in a more through repair and when a glitch was discovered part way though, a modification was made that resulted in an even stronger better looking finished product. Over 30+ years I worked over-seeing a variety of contractors who did every imaginable aspect of construction and maintenance work on the large office building I managed. The scope of the projects varied from adding or removing a door or two to adding 5,000, 10,000, and 20,000 square foot, two story additions to the building. The Crestone workers were as good or better than any I worked with. The workers showed up promptly every day, stayed on the job, and completed it without delay. Once they worked all day in a driving rain. They stayed on the job continually and took only a short lunch break. The workers thoroughly cleaned up at the end of every day and hauled away debris. In recent years I have wondered how projects get completed as the new acceptable standard appears to be that workers talk and text on their cell phones throughout the workday and take frequent smoke breaks. I saw Crestone’s employees making or taking a phone call only once or twice during the 6 day period and never saw an employee smoking a cigarette. The Crestone labor rate is based on 100% productivity the entire work day without an inefficiency factor for cigarette breaks, talking and texting on cell phones, or breaking and wasting time talking among themselves. The deck looks better and is stronger than when it was originally built in 1991. It looks 100% better than my simple repair would have produced. The shaky, wobbly stairs and rail are now very solid. I highly recommend Creston General for any home or construction job and will call them first for any work I may need to have accomplished."

FAQs for drywall and plastering projects in Indian, AK

Load-bearing walls support the weight of your home's structure, including floors, roofs, and other building components. Non-load-bearing walls, on the other hand, serve only as partitions or room dividers. All exterior walls are typically load-bearing, even if they have design features like bump-outs or large glass panels. These walls need precise construction to ensure your home's structural integrity.

Removing a wall costs anywhere from $300 to $10,000 , depending on the size and whether it's load-bearing. Removing load-bearing walls is a more labor-intensive process and typically costs more. To get an accurate estimate for your project, consult a local contractor with the specifics of your wall.

Yes, there are other projects you can tackle at the same time when building a wall. Upgrading to energy-efficient windows or doors can enhance your home’s sustainability and can be integrated into the wall construction process. You might also consider removing existing walls to create an open-concept layout or building a home addition for extra space. Coordinating multiple projects can be cost-effective and streamline your renovation timeline. Discuss your goals with a contractor to help you plan effectively and maximize the benefits of your renovation.

The cost to build a partition wall varies depending on the size and type you choose. Half walls that don't reach the ceiling cost about $10 to $20 per linear foot . Full partition walls made with drywall may cost more due to additional materials and labor. Prices for accordion or panel walls vary widely based on materials and design. Factors like electrical work, insulation, and finishes will also influence your total cost.

Framing is the backbone of wall construction, creating a secure structure that supports everything else. Quality framing ensures that studs, electrical wiring, and plumbing are properly integrated into your home's design. A professional installer uses reliable materials like wood or metal to build a framework that meets building codes and ensures your wall is durable and safe.
