"First to reach out to me once I indicated what I was in need of. Indicated they would be able to schedule me that day. Turned out they couldn't …. However, I will say their communication advising me of the status was excellent. Rescheduled for the next day. Called from tech prior to arrival and providing me an estimated time. Tyler was very professional and thorough. Performed an overall check of my water system. Of course in IN there isn't any "good" water. Provided a pressure check; which was high and submitted a couple of solutions with quotes. No hard sales pitch - I passed on these options and there was no push back. Not saying their recommendations weren't without merit, simply something I did not want to pursue at this time. Once we established this, Tyler did an excellent job in performing the task on the water heater. I would definitely use again and highly recommend Hope."

"Chris, the owner, was very knowledgeable about the type of furnace we needed, as well as could afford. He knew how big it should be for the size of the house. We have been using it this winter and even in the coldest period, it kept the temperature perfect. Chris did the install in minimal time and with professionalism. He even put in a flap, so that if we wanted to use our wood furnace it would close off the gas furnace flu, so the electronics would not overheat. We were very comfortable with him in our home."

"I am in the process of selling a home, and needed various skills to prepare the house for sale.  I contacted Handyman and arranged for 3 people to give me estimates on: 1) general handyman maintenance/repair projects , 2) move a gas furnace supply line fitting, and 3) replace an old electrical fuse box and to do some other miscellaneous electrical repairs (the house is about 60 years old).

All 3 people showed up on time, were professional, seemed to know their respective fields, and (later) gave clear estimates.

I hired the persons to do the furnace repair and the electrical work (still getting other estimates for the handyman stuff for comparison).  The furnace work went flawlessly, and I would hire the person again.

I also hired the electrician.  He showed up to the work with his wife (assistant), and they both worked 2 solid days.  They were both very professional, friendly and did very good work.  I will certainly hire them again for any additional electrical work I need.

My experience with Handyman was excellent, and I would certainly recommend them.  The price was not cheap, but I feel it was reasonable, and I feel confident the work was done correctly.

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Dunreith, IN

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
