"I highly recommend Apex-based "A. Maynor Heating & A/C", who replaced my furnace and the entire central air conditioning system (outside condenser unit, inside evaporator coil, and new refrigerant lines) on 7-17-2020 at my Cary house. I also had them install the new outside condenser unit on the opposite side of the house (where it's in the shade, able to operate more effectively) compared to where the original condenser was (in the direct sun). All of their personnel were very competent, polite, prompt, and a pleasure to interact with, from Christy & Tammy in the office, to Carlos & Louis who performed the initial inspection & diagnosis of the original system that had failed, to Norm who performed the house "load calculation", recommended the appropriate new system, and who (since he's a licensed electrician) modified the wiring at the electrical panel as needed for the new condenser location, to Ramon & Christian who performed the new installation, and to Robert who performed the post-installation check and installed a new condensate pump."

"I called Carolina Comfort because of problems with my HVAC system. They dispatched Kevin Shortt to my home and sent text alerts about his arrival time. The alerts were a nice touch. Kevin was professional and EXTREMELY knowledgeable. He thoughtfully listened to my description of the problems that I was having, and then went through a logical, systematic approach to resolve all of the issues. He patiently explained the problems, and what he did to correct them. My HVAC system is now working perfectly! Kevin is simply the best of the best, and Carolina Comfort is fortunate to have him on their team. I highly recommend Carolina Comfort. What a great company!"

"AJ provided great service very quickly and efficiently. He came out sooner than expected which was fantastic. He explained everything to us and broke down the cost so that we understood what we were paying for. I will be hiring Jassanee Services in the future to service our AC and heating and I will definitely be recommending them. Thanks AJ!"

"This was a very good experience from start to finish. The Operations Manager who came out to estimate the job was very through and professional. After inspecting the old system which was still functioning but not very efficient, he sized a new system based on the size of the home and my comments regarding the performance of the existing system. He explained the various options available and the relative cost of each. The difference between the lower grade systems and the top of the line was not that much different, especially with the factory rebate on the higher end system which is what we decided to go with. Once that was decided, the work was scheduled for about 2 weeks later. The crew showed up on time, removed the old system and began installation of the new. It took about a day and a half to get everything installed, including redoing some of the duct work at the furnace. The Operations Manager came by each day to check on the work and see if we had any questions or problems. Everything was cleaned up after the installation and we were totally pleased with the work. Another technician came by to install the and quot;smartand quot; thermostat and explain all the options.

We have been using the system now for one summer and two winters, and we are completely satisfied. After the first year, the company inspected the heating and cooling units and the thermostat to confirm that all were operating correctly. We had noticed a high pitched whine from the furnace which turned out to be caused by a combustion exhaust fan that was not perfectly balance. The fan was replaced and the problem resolved.

This was a good choice for both equipment and installer. We have an upstairs unit that does not get much use but may have to be replaced in a few years. We will definitely go back to Gand M when the time comes. We have recommended Gand M to our friends."

"Affordable Heating and Air is by far one of the most responsive and reasonably priced HVAC contractors that I have dealt with. They were able to work me into their schedule less than 24 hours after I submitted my request and less than 4 hours after talking with someone from the company. They employees were very kind and quickly completed the job."

"This company was excellent from start to finish. We needed our hvac unit serviced and they were efficient, knowledgeable and kind. I called needing someone out same day and they arrived very promptly. I received a text letting me know when to expect them and I didn't have to wait around all day. The technician was able to fix the issue and also took extra time to thoroughly inspect each unit. I knew before any work was done what the cost was going to be and there were no surprises. I was so happy with their service that I had them inspect the heating and AC system our new house that we were purchasing. I highly recommend Streamline Services."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Raleigh, NC

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
