"This was the first annual maintenance on my new Lennox AC unit. Alex showed up on time and clearly explained what he was doing and answered all my questions thoroughly. He did a great job and I look forward to seeing him in the fall for the furnace maintenance."

"Druziako ordered and replaced the game furnace with the unit and brand we requested. The crew arrived on time and worked until they completed the job which included removing the old furnace and condenser and then installing the new furnace and condenser and retro-fitting all the pipes and vents to fit the new system."

"We have a heating service contract with Sila and had our annual scheduled service call on 2/26/19. We've always had excellent experiences with the staff who have serviced our furnace, and today was no exception. The technician, Guy, came promptly and very efficiently performed the required testing and measurements of the service procedure. Before he left, I asked for some information about future replacement of the burner and possible changes to our heating zone arrangement. He gave a very clear explanation of what to consider about making any future changes, what might potentially be involved, and answered all of our questions knowledgeably. Thanks to him we can proceed with our decision process with better understanding."

"I called Unique Indoor Comfort to take a look at it at on a Sunday afternoon. They sent Steve M out to take a look at it. He was very friendly and patiently listened to my concerns and answered my questions. He systematically checked various components and found some debris stuck in the pipe connected to the inducer motor. He removed the debris and that seemed to fix the problem and said that this would get me through the night, at the least. As a recommendation, he said it would be best if I replaced a part that is slowly falling apart. He would check with the manufacturer and call me the next day. The cost for the emergency call and check up was $150. Pretty reasonable to me. The next day, Steve M called me and said my furnace only had a 5 year parts warranty, so I would be on the hook for paying for the part. He advised me not to spend the $850 for the part right now, but instead do a complete maintenance and cleanup for $168. I took Steve M's advice. The next day, Steve C (another Steve at the same company) came out to do a complete clean up and check up on my furnace. He found bits of PVC pipe burnt up in the heat exchanger and removed them. Steve C seemed to do a very thorough job. He also took the time to answer my questions I will be using Unique Indoor Comfort in the future to do maintenance check ups. I had used another company a few years prior, but they didn't seem nearly as thorough."

"Joe, the AirCo sales representative, was very professional. He actually asked for my feedback on priorities for a new boiler. This was important to me because the boiler sits below our family room, and the noise level of the boiler was as issue. His proposals listed several boiler options, based on heating efficiency, which were competitively priced. The installation was run by Steve, who was able to fit in the installation the next week. Steve, and his crews, were punctual and courteous, and the installation went smoothly. It's only been a week, but I am very pleased with my Bosch boiler, the quality of the work, the price paid, and the timeliness of the installation."

Customers say: Super punctual

"we have a crazy heating system; no one in the ten years we've had the house has really been able to figure it out. That's just life. When the heating stopped working (in January) we called Milltown. They were very responsive. We had a technician here in a day who figured out there was a leak. Finding the source, and how to isolate it was anything but simple. The tech in charge persisted (figured out, in fact that the system had been piped wrong) and solved the problem over the course of a day and a half. Many would have thrown up their hands or managed some bad technical band-aid. It was expensive (but plumbing sort of always is, and I don't think this rose to the level of unfair), but importantly the system is now better understood and there's no more leak. On top of that all of my questions were answered and the work was done well. Highly recommended."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Dunstable, MA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
