"They were able to get me scheduled very quickly so I would not be without heat for long. Other companies had long waits or would charge a significant after hours fee. They even called other times to see if I was available to get to me sooner. The tech arrived on time and tuned the repair call into a service call when the furnace started working. It was determined the furnace needed parts and the tech scheduled a bid for a new furnace when the estimate of $1500.00 was given for a new motor and heat exchanger. The bid for new furnace and installation from Pacific was $6800.00. I went with another company when I received another bid of $3000.00."

"At our rental home, our tenants called about lack of heat from the furnace on snowy Super Bowl Sunday. After many calls, I was unable to get any tech out on Sunday but called AAA Heating and Air Conditioning early Monday morning. Mitchel was able to get to the residence, diagnose and fix the problem. During the process we were pleased with immediate ability to respond, the level of communication and ultimately the price for the repair and furnace tune up. I would not hesitate in hiring AAA Heating and A/C again."

"Mark and his guys helped us install a new AC last summer. They arrived on time and did a great job! So when I was looking for someone to do the maintenance of our furnace, I called them. Todd went above and beyond my expectations. He finished the job and even helped fix my hinge. Both Mark and Todd strike me as very genuine people. And I would definitely hire them again!"

"I had three estimates at our house for our conversion from a gas forced-air furnace to a heat pump/gas furnace installation.  I was most impressed by Evergreen's rep. Scott, as he was very helpful in explaining the technology and was the only one of the three to do a J load calculation on our home.  I also felt after the estimates were all given that Evergreen's was the best buy in terms of the product features vs. overall cost.   As I researched our installation I realized that my mother's all-electric home would be better served by a heat pump as well.  Again, Scott did the best job of all three estimators there as well.

After the down payment of 50% of the cost the installation was set up within two weeks for both locations.  The work was done on time and efficiently.  My mother's job was done in a few hours, mine took a couple of days.  I'm happy to say that both units are performing perfectly, through both the colder weather of March and the warmer than usual days we've had in April.

There were a couple of things that should be mentioned, not major issues but worth noting.

The installation of our heat/pump and furnace did not meet City Code on the initial inspection as the condensation pump was placed on the floor.   City code required it to be 18 inches off the floor due to a potential for an explosion should there be a gas leak.  The correction was done within a few days, but I did have to schedule a city inspector on two different days.   The city inspector remarked that the installer 'should have known better'.

On my mom's split heat pump the indoor blower unit began making a loud clanking noise one month into use.  Evergreen was quick to come out, mom called on Sunday morning and was able to have a crew come out the next day.  Apparently the installers had missed a mounting clip on the external cover of the indoor unit and over time the casing sagged enough that the rotating fans began to hit the inside of the case.

Several weeks after our work was done I was called by the financial office asking me to pay the remaining 50% balance.  I pointed out that it had been paid on the day the work was done, but apparently the payment was not correctly registered as having been paid by their accounting office.  Fortunately I was able to point to my credit card statement indicating that the balance had been paid in full.

Overall Evergreen did a professional job from start to finish and I have no hesitation in recommending them.  Given their expertise and experience I have no doubt that my equipment will continue to be well serviced going forward.  "

"Allred is THE best. I had mini-split AC/heat installed almost a year ago. I love it and it's saving me significant money over using my central heating system. And no more hassle with portable air conditioners. I should have done this years ago. Even better is the 5 star customer service. Last week I had difficulty turning on the AC for the first time since last summer. I urgently called David on a Sunday. He immediately dove in to get me scheduled. Sebastian called me before making an on-site visit. Patiently walked me through a simple troubleshoot and shazaam! I turned right on. A+++ to both of them."

"This company really knows what they are doing. From the time we met with the salesman until after the project was done it has been nothing short of excellent. Our salesman Jim Hayward walked us through the whole process and made sure that we were happy throughout the entire time. And his knowledge of the systems we were looking at was more in depth then anyone else we talked to before purchasing this for our home. When it came time for the work to be done everything went smoothly. All of the staff we dealt with from Puyallup Heating and Air were very friendly and all about giving us everything we needed. And the really comforting aspect of this whole project is that this business has been in the area for more than 60 years which gives us that peace of mind to know that if anything goes wrong with our system they will be there to help us. Very professional service, very friendly staff, very nice system and worth every penny we spent on it."

"My furnace broke down, got same day appointment to diagnose. Ended up replacing the 27yo furnace with energy efficiency with AC add-on 4 days later. The installation took the whole day but went well."

"From start, meeting with the sales technician (Matt) who was willing to meet with us twice, never tried to "sell" us on it, to installation (we are fortunate to live 5 minutes from the office) which took Andrew and crew one day, to finish total clean up and to the tutorial making sure we received a thorough explanation of the new system, this was a breeze of a process and all the seatown staff from the techs to the office support were very professional and helpful. Now we have a new furnace, heat pump and thermostat that will work together to keep our home comfy. Plus we got a filtration system that eliminates dust in the air and other pollutants making the air in air house more healthy to breathe. Our first experience with Seatown was service of our gas fireplace. It had gone out over the summer and I wasn't sure how to get it re-lit. I asked them to come to assess our situation to see if a heat pump would work in our house and even though they don't do gas fire places, they were willing to figure it out and it was lit."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Federal Way, WA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
