Comment: Currently have a Trane XL80 forced-air, natural gas furnace, with A/C, and a Honeywell electrostatic air cleaner. The unit is 28 years old and starting to act abnormally. Symptom was that the fan failed to shut off after a heating cycle cool-down. We had the unit inspected; given a quote of over $1,000 to replace the controller board. We decided to put the money towards a new furnace instead, as it is clear we were due to replace it anyways. As long as we're doing this, I want to get a) a quieter furnace, b) better air cleaning, and c) better air flow to the upstairs. The furnace also is the air handler for the air conditioner. It's downflow. Air has to make a 180 degree turn to flow upstairs (10" duct), another 180 degree turn in the attic, and thus we've never had good airflow to the rooms upstairs. House is 2 story, 2400 sq ft. The stack includes (from the top) the Honeywell air cleaner, the furnace, and then the A/C coils. As such, what I'm looking for is a Tra
