"I wanted to replace an out dated oil furnace with an efficient low carbon hvac system that heated my home in the winter and cooled it in the summer. I checked out Angies List for hvac providers in my area, made some comparisons, and contacted vendors. I chose N.E.T.R. based on the reviews on Angies List and the product presentation by the sales rep. for N.E.T.R.
The product performance, installation time frame, and cost matched exactly the proposal submitted to me by N.E.T.R. The technical support staff - Adam and Jose' - installed the Mitsubishi heat pump system with a professional skill level that I found to be reassuring. Russell Dodd, the sales rep., provided detailed support to my various questions. His attention to my product order-installation was more than I expected.
I feel confident that the product and services provided by N.E.T.R. will perform to my expectations.

"Not easy finding an HVAC company willing to install a gas steam boiler. These guys did it all and did it well, removing the old oil burner and oil tank, installing a Weil McClain boiler including steam piping and hot water, installing gas piping, electrical and plumbing, including all inspections, even leaving me a temporary hot water heater until the furnace installation was completed. They fully accommodated my schedule as well. The town electrical inspector who came after installation was complete confirmed their good reputation."

"The project involved replacement of a furnace and A/C. Mike was quick to come with an estimate, and had the patience to explain all relevant options, thus helping me choose the system that is right for me. Mike did a great job, and finished the work on schedule. Very professional."

Customers say: Super punctual
"we have a crazy heating system; no one in the ten years we've had the house has really been able to figure it out. That's just life. When the heating stopped working (in January) we called Milltown. They were very responsive. We had a technician here in a day who figured out there was a leak. Finding the source, and how to isolate it was anything but simple. The tech in charge persisted (figured out, in fact that the system had been piped wrong) and solved the problem over the course of a day and a half. Many would have thrown up their hands or managed some bad technical band-aid. It was expensive (but plumbing sort of always is, and I don't think this rose to the level of unfair), but importantly the system is now better understood and there's no more leak. On top of that all of my questions were answered and the work was done well. Highly recommended."

"Everyone I dealt with was very courteous and professional. Everything went well and the system was installed in one day. Derek came back to check the work the next day and show me how the remote control works the system. I was very satisfied with this company."

"Shawn did an excellent job of replacing my 32-yr old heating system with a 5-zone, Buderus G115, Riello Burner, SuperStor Water Heater, and a "fan-in-a-can" air intake (as furnace is in an enclosed basement closet). He really knows his stuff! He is organized and does a neat, professional job. When he was finished, he tested and marked each zone with me for future identification. I highly recommend Congers Heating & Cooling for quality workmanship and a competitive price."

"First off, the consult was great. I was able to add services to my initial request and received a deal doing so. I also added a second set of services later that month. Adam and Steve completed the work and were completely professional and super efficient. They answered my questions and made sure I understood the work being performed. They worked with my schedule and were fantastic. I had a gas hook-up for a change from electric stove to gas stove - they even took care of the permits and inspection. They removed an old water access point for the fridge's icemaker that was in an awkward spot. They also added a regulator for the water pressure and water filtration system. Fantastic work all around. Should we need any more plumbing/gas work, I would definitely hire them again."

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.
Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.
With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.
The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.
Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.
An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.
An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
