"Our new HVAC system was installed 12/20/2017. Our comfort level has decreased: We turn our heating down by 7 degrees F at night, but on cold nights the system takes over 4 hours to get back to the set daytime temperature. Acosta says we must not turn the heating down by more than 4 degrees. So we now have to choose between being too warm at night or cold in the morning. Supposed, this is because the unit is so efficient and not over-sized. It is too early to say if the higher efficiency shows up in substantial savings. The installers were on time and courteous. They did, however, leave the work area dirty, with left-over food and drink, and our garden tools strewn about. The crews explanation of the controls and electronic thermostat was rushed (after 6 pm) and inadequate."

"If your looking for an honest, reasonable and and dependable company to service or replace your heating and cooling system then look no further than Penguin Air Cooling and Heating. Recently I was very fortunate to have hired a air and heat company that more than met my expectations in replacing an old system in one of my rental units in Charlotte. Eric did a super job in sizing the home and explaining and answering all my questions. I was very impressed with his knowledge and honesty. He went out of his way to offer me a fantastic quote for a fabulous system. Pierce and Preston did a remarkable installation on the new system. They double checked everything and did an awesome job cleaning up and hauling away the old units. Before I end I want to acknowledge the outstanding customer service the young ladies provided me at Penguin Air. They met all my needs in a timely, courteous and highly efficient manner. Penguin Air Cooling and Heating is a company you can rely on and trust and a pleasure to do business with."

"Amazing, helpful, and caring. We had been working with another person for our ac work. Long story short, we started getting the run around. We started searching for another contractor, lo and behold, we came across Mr. Furnace. Before he even got completely in the attic, he knew what had happened. Let’s just say, the prior contractor left us in a mess. We had no clue the carelessness and danger the other contractor had put us in. Our gas lines were just dangling, the water line was shut off, instillation was coming out, and they had stepped on ducts and they were caved in. We were told if the gas lines would have hit a copper line, we would have all been in serious danger. Before they started the job they were hired for, they corrected what they could to ensure our families safety. They were very professional, friendly, and caring. We still have work to be done to get it all back correctly and will only be working with them from now on. Pricing is exceptionally reasonable for the job."

"I called Next HVAC right for an inspection on my 7 year old house heating/cooling system. The tech was very knowledgeable. He went above and beyond to walk me through every little detail of every part of the system. I was pleased with his no pressure approach, yet he left no questions unanswered. I would definitely recommend this company to friends and family and will gladly continue doing business with them!"

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Waxhaw, NC

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
