Customers say: Super punctual

"I have been using Mike as my Heating and A/C guy for 17 years and he is awesome! He is very personable, professional, knowledgable, and reasonably proced. He has never tried to sell me anything I don't need (like some others I dealt with). I have also used him for emergencies (water heater) and he has been there when I needed him."

"Roy arrived 30 minutes late but had called to inform me he was running late. He quickly identified our needs for new HVAC system and gave me a quote. He offered to complete the work quickly but could not do until the next week. He was very detailed. His quote was slightly higher than his competitors. We went with another company, but I felt Roy was genuine."

"Ryan and his team have excellent customer service, were very prompt, and gave me a great deal on my HVAC system. My basement flooded and ruined my furnace, leaving my son and I with no heat for days before I noticed it. When I called Good Guys, they were at my house the next day with a brand new system, top of the line, for a very reasonable price and had me hooked up in the same business day. I would highly recommend Good Guys to anyone needing help with their HVAC system :)"

"Home Heroes came out when our furnace went down. We just moved in and came home to no heat. They gave us a price to fix it and also a cost to replace since it was 20yrs old. We ended up replacing (We got multiple quotes to verify) but they gave us the BEST overall value. We later had a Tankles water heater installed by their plumber. Amazing service, Amazing work and Amazing Price"

"Overall the work that was done and the plumbers that provided the service were great, professional, accommodating, and efficient in getting all this work done in a day. The employees I would recommend to anyone however, we did have some issues with the companies billing and not recognizing an Angie's List discount. When we received the final invoice by email, there was only the final amount listed with no detail as to the cost of each service performed. When my husband requested the cost of the water heater they responded that all they could provide was an industry standard cost not the specific cost for the heater we received. When I told them we were Angie's List members and should get a discount, the plumbers responded that Hope Plumbing was not a member of Angie's List."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Lapel, IN

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
