"Install was easy. Up front cost was pretty low with Angie's List coupon. Monthly price is a little high compared to competing companies. Response time with alarms is excellent. I was advised to use glass break alarms within 10 ft of my first floor windows, which we installed correctly. I asked prior to installation if having one in the kitchen would cause false alarms due to dishes clanging, etc. I was told the glass break alarms are configured to a precise frequency that alarms with breaking glass. So, not a "no", but not really an answer. Well, every time we cook dinner, wash dishes or empty the dish washer, the kitchen glass break alarm gives a warning which would sound the alarm if it was set. This has caused us a number of false alarms while we've been away due to shifting bowls or plates in our drying rack. For the first several we've had to pay our police department $120 to check the house, and I was only notified after the first alarm that there was a cheaper option for a security company to drive by to check for a break in."

".After our home was broken into in January 2014, I was motivated to install a security system. I asked my family about the services they use, and several people warned me about the small print in most contracts, and how tough it is to get out of contracts. Angie's List was running a special with Security One/Safe Home Security systems; they are highly rated, so I bought the special. I am very pleased with the level of customer service: they responded quickly via email or phone to all of my questions. Their technician guided me on the doors & windows to select for motion sensors. I am able to track disarming of the security pad by user via email, which means an email pops up whenever my kids come home/disarm the system. I am also able to track arming/disarming via their mobile app, or use the mobile app to arm/disarm the house. The monthly payment plan is affordable & there are no contract surprises/changes written in. They also guide me on things I would have forgotten, like registering my alarm system with the local police. I appreciate their guidance and service.

"It is a good experience and I currently am still using them. One thing I do not like is the paying system. I have to pay one month before I get the service. So they have one month of money before I get the service. That is just the way they bill. It is unusual because most places bill you after I use their service. So they will always have one month of my money before I get the service. I chose this company because they were recommended by a friend who had used them for several years so I did not do competitive shopping. I don't know if there are better prices, but to me it seemed reasonable."

"How did it go? Not very well. Everything is great until there is a break-in or your equipment malfunctions.|Break-in Nov 2013 while I was on vacation 2,000 miles away. I had them dispatch police. They said they'd call back with status. They never did. I had to call them. They had no record of who they spoke to in the PD but just assumed that since they heard nothing back that it was a false alarm. Neighbor went to the house and found the garage door broken into. I called the Protect America to find out who they spoke to in the PD. They said "we don't keep that information, call the Police Department." Police department said they never got the call. Filed a police report. ||When the equipment malfunctions or goes off-line, they have an "oh well" attitude. I've written to the CEO, Todd, about their attitude with "sorry about that" reply. Recently called when equipment failed at 2AM on holiday. Got the response that "we only respond during normal business hours" so call back then. When I called back, they only had a limited staff on hand and promised they'd call me back in 1 - 2 hours. They didn't call back. I called the next day and was told they would "try" to connect me with level 2 support. I insisted on waiting and finally got help. Diagnostics took 1 hour over the phone (tech to my home costs 175 per hour) or "do it yourself" talk to tech. Told me to go to Radio Shack to buy and install expensive batteries and see if that solves it. If not call them back. Sold me batteries w/3 to 5 business day delay. They have no sense of urgency in helping me protect my home. The attitude seems to be "oh well. That's your problem." Unresponsive, uncaring, do not keep promises.|I have a 3 year contract that must be paid in full to terminate. Lesson learned. All the ratings I read before I signed up said they were the best in customer service. If they are the best, I hate to think what the others are. As I said, I've written to them and recently related my experience and dissatisfaction in my response to their survey. They just don't seem to care."

"LOVE this system! Customer service was extremely nice and made my experience effortless. Speaking of effortless, the self-installation was super easy. It took me less than 30 minutes from start to finish to get my system up and running. Highly recommended!"

"It was good work, but there was a problem with the Billing. It was cleared up by the company after a few calls. But help from you was so poor and no help. Could only chat on line and not with a person on phone. Found out the only to do that is to pay for it. That really sucks and got bad info from person on line. We love using this site services and have on many things, but to have to pay to talk to a person on phone is really BS."
