"After I inquired about upgrading my attic insulation Marcos called and set up a visit for the next business day. He showed up on time wearing a face mask which I appreciated. He invited me up into the attic and pointed out my current level of insulation and explained what I needed to upgrade to code. He answered all my questions. Job scheduled for the next afternoon and completed in 2 hours. I was invited to look into attic and was shown my insulation level was increased as promised. The crew was on time, courteous and cleaned up after the job was completed. The price was right on and Marcos added baffles for my attic vents to prevent the blown in insulation from being moved by airflow. and also insulated my attic opening cover with a piece of foam at no additional charge. Thanks MYF Insulation."

"The owner, Joe called me and gave me a quote over the phone. YES! The quote was based on my square footage and my desire to stick with the least expensive solution. The new blown-in product won't need more added as it did with the original product blown-in by a different company 10 years ago. That inferior product had a settling rate of over half! The workers were on time, made short work of the installation, let me climb the ladder to see the before, sent me photos of the after, and stuck with the original quote. Lastly, they were here within a week of my initial call and were on time. Great company and saved me more than $800 on the next lowest estimate. Highly recommend."

"Apex Attic & Insulation did a fantastic job on our attic restoration. The crew was professional, showed up on time, and left the space cleaner than they found it. Our energy bills dropped noticeably within the first month. Highly recommend if you?re dealing with old insulation or rodent damage. they know what they?re doing!"

Old insulation should be removed when it shows damage, contamination, or heavy deterioration. If you notice water stains, rodent droppings, mold, or large gaps, plan on taking it out to protect your home’s energy performance and indoor air quality. Removing compromised material eliminates health hazards, cuts energy loss, and sets the stage for a safer, more efficient attic—all while keeping utility bills in check.
R-value measures how well insulation resists heat flow—the higher the number, the better it slows heat transfer. The right R-value keeps your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer, saving energy year-round. Match the rating to your climate zone and have a pro verify performance over time, because moisture or settling can lower R-value and cut efficiency.
Attic insulation can stay in place for 80 to 100 years, but its performance often drops after the first 15. As dust, moisture, or mold build up, the material loses R-value and allows heat to escape. Schedule periodic inspections so a pro can tell you when replacement makes sense—helping you keep energy bills down and indoor comfort up.
You can over-insulate an attic. Beyond the recommended R-value, extra layers don’t add efficiency and can trap moisture, leading to mold or reduced performance. A local insulation pro can measure current levels, confirm the right target for your climate, and advise on any adjustments so you avoid future energy or maintenance headaches.
Insulation can be damaged by mold, pests, water leaks, or accidental electrical contact. When the material is compromised, it loses R-value and can introduce health hazards. Removing and replacing affected sections restores efficiency, while routine inspections from a qualified pro help you catch problems early and keep your attic safe and energy-smart.
