"The work was done to our satisfaction - very nicely, in fact.  The thing I didn't like was that the contractor postponed the work twice. 
The work took several hours and the area was neat and clean when it was done.
I was offered an upgrade to the "polymetric sand" for $90 but declined, as the paved area is totally below roof overhang and will therefore not be subject to much water.
