"My wife and I recently moved into a home that was built in the 1980s...and the basement still reflected that style. It was time for an update and calling Handy Men & Mrs. Helper was a great decision. They were able to transform the antiquated 80's paneling into a modern, functional space, helped move a light fixture while patching a ceiling that had water damage, and even fixed a leaking toilet that we were unaware of. From first contact to completion, communication was abundant, their employees were always punctual and professional, and not only did they do an excellent job of remolding/painting...but they were efficient too. I'd recommend them to anyone who is looking to do cosmetic/functional work in their home. There is still some more work to do and when it's time, there's no doubt I will be calling Handy Men & Mrs. Helper."

"Fantastic! From the time of the estimate until the completion of the job was seamless. The estimate was fair, the work started quickly, and was done in less time and under budget. We have a 135 year old Victorian. We needed repairs on railing that had some wood rot due to rain and our back porch needed an almost full rebuild. We are so happy with how all of it turned out."

"After searching for months for someone to convert our loft into a nursery with no luck, we came across The Handy Veteran, and could not be happier with the finished product! Kevin and Tito were very professional to work with. We felt comfortable allowing them into our home and were very impressed by their work ethic. We would 100% recommend this company to anyone looking to have home renovations done, and hope to work with them again in the future on any projects that may arise. Thanks again!"

"Greg and his team did a fantastic job. It was a challenging project requiring them to partially demolish the wood frame garage, install a new roof deck on it, build a pergola with privacy and connect it all with the existing steel stairs. Greg offered great advice along the way that enhanced the project. At the end of each day the site and surrounding area was cleaner than when they arrived. When Greg ran into a delay with the iron work he took on the task himself and again exceeded our expectations. We went from staring at a garage to having a beautiful outdoor space in the city for our family to enjoy."

"Service was excellent. Came within our timeframe. Price was reasonable. Very neat. No mess Doors were trimmed at bottom to accommodate new carpeting. We were worried about someone cutting the doors too high, but he did a perfect job!"

"In addition to the installation of a light, they also installed a medicine cabinet. Both needed some additional work- installation of a junction box and hole needed in a plastered wall; filling in of extra space around medicine cabinet rough opening. They also replaced some wood trim around a large tool shed. Job came out great. They were professional and conscientious to take care within my home. Tom and Mike did a very nice job."

FAQs for shed and enclosure service projects in Arlington Heights, IL

A treehouse stresses the tree, but proper design keeps that impact manageable. Start with a healthy species, use tree-attachment bolts instead of lag screws, and allow room for future growth. A qualified treehouse builder or arborist can assess load capacity, ensure safe fastening, and monitor the tree’s health after construction.

The time it takes to build a treehouse depends on its size and complexity, and whether you choose a prefab kit or a custom design. A straightforward child's prefab treehouse can be assembled in as little as two days to a week. More complex designs can take two to six weeks. Adding features like plumbing and electricity can add several days to the project timeline. Building a fully livable treehouse can take anywhere from several months to a year.

The best trees for constructing a treehouse are strong and healthy with a minimum diameter of 12 inches. Ideal choices include maple, oak, hemlock, and fir trees. If suitable trees aren't available, you can install additional support posts to reinforce the structure. Consulting with an arborist or local treehouse builder ensures your site is evaluated correctly and your treehouse is securely anchored.

A well-constructed treehouse can last anywhere from 10 to 25 years or more. The lifespan depends on the quality of the materials used and the extent to which they are maintained. Applying weatherproof treatments to the wood can help extend its lifespan. Keep in mind that treehouses in areas with harsh weather conditions may wear faster than those in milder climates.

Building a treehouse for year‑round living is entirely possible when you address both the technical challenges and the lifestyle benefits head‑on. This project requires a secure design that incorporates superior insulation, integrated plumbing, and robust electrical systems, while also creating a sustainable, minimalist, and eco-friendly retreat. To ensure comfort and safety, invest in enhanced structural supports and adhere to strict code-compliance measures. Professional consultation is essential to transform your treehouse into a secure, full-time living space that incorporates off-the-grid and environmentally conscious design.

Plumbing installation in a treehouse is challenging because it requires unique, engineered solutions for an off‑ground structure. This project requires custom-designed water distribution systems, reinforced connections, and specialized adjustments that exceed the standard requirements for home plumbing. In addition, implementing innovative solutions such as composting toilets, rainwater collection systems, and graywater sinks ensures safe operation, efficient drainage, and sustainable water usage. These measures, when combined with rigorous adherence to building codes, guarantee that your treehouse’s plumbing system operates securely and efficiently.
