"Great first impression, but left a bad taste in my mouth.
Lifestyles was very professional in setting up my appointment, prompt in returning my inquiry, and confirmed my appointment a day in advance. The salesman was exactly on time, and was very pleasant, and provided options for me, including design adjustments that could save $$ for me. I was very clear that I was in the process of gathering information, and in the process of contacting other companies to obtain estimates, so that I could make an informed decision and understand all of my options for such a large expenditure.
After reviewing options and pricing, the salesman's 'aw shucks' demeanor changed dramatically when he realized he was not going to be able to push me into making a decision at that time. I had to repeat myself more than once that I would not be making any kind of commitment that day, that I was still gathering information. The pricing for a closed in patio enclosure (one end at 7 ft, and the long end at 25 ft) including roof using single pane glass was over $26K, unfortunately not in my budget. He provided pricing for making the enclosure a screened in enclosure, again including a roof, and making it 'window ready' in case I wanted to update in the future, this estimate was just under $10K. I noted that I would let him know either way on my decision, if I decided to go with another firm or if I wanted the $10K enclosure from Lifestyles Remodeling, and his response was 'sorry we couldn't do business'. He was very dismissive when he left, since I hadn't committed to anything.
Unfortunately, even though I am sure that the quality of materials and work is fine, and it was very possible that I would have come back to them for the screen enclosure (dependent on my other research), I will not be using this company at all because of this salesman's behavior. One last thing, he also misrepresented what was available for reviews on Angie's List. He indicated that there were about 70 'attaboys', so I looked, and I could only find 5, none of which were recent. I found this company on Home Advisor, which is my lesson learned to not rely on those reviews, but to stick with Angie's List.

"Ok, I did a prepaid purchase for 8 hours of painting. When I bought it I knew I had to supply the paint. I did not know I had to supple the rollers and paint brushes. Then we were told that the base boards would be extra. Also charged for $25 to move the furniture. I am not sure how much 8 hours of painting usually gets done. That being said, the paint work was well done, cleaned up very nicely."

"Today our aluminum patio enclosure was finished! I only wish I could post pictures here! It is absolutely beautiful! From the beginning we had very good experience with Rick Auman, their sales rep. He was instrumental in figuring out the size and shape of the structure. He clearly told us what to expect and when. Mark Weiss, the project manager is simply brilliant: he did all the drawings. And what is absolutely amazing that Josh pretty much did the entire project by himself! This very young man is so experienced, he takes pride in quality of his workmanship! And he completed the project in 4 days with the help of his wonderful fiance' . Southern Aluminum, thank you very much for quality work! Of course, only time will show, how the structure will survive hurricanes."

"Jacob did an excellent job. The doors look great and he was professional, friendly, and punctual. Communication was clear and easy. His price was competitive and he stuck with his estimate even after he found one of the doors we bought was more work/took longer than expected. He has a great attitude and was patient with any interruptions at our active house. My 2.5 year old loved him haha. Would definitely recommend and would hire again."

"Installation people did not clean up after themselves. I cleaned up. The project manager had to come back due to some issues with bolts. They ended up reinstalling them to keep fabric panels in place."

"I waited until we had a few storms before writing this review. During the estimation process we discussed options which resulted in less work for the company and less expense for me. The work the company performed has exceeded all my expectations. There were a few curve balls thrown into the work due to the age and structural strength of the enclosure which the company handled well and with a certain amount of anticipation; they liked the challenge. In addition to the rescreening the company strengthed the enclosure structure with brackets and additional cables, and built a cat door on the lanai. Both of these additions to the original quote were reasonably priced. They were prompt, efficient, friendly, and professional in their work and their personal behavior (language and music choices). The owner of the company headed the project."

A treehouse stresses the tree, but proper design keeps that impact manageable. Start with a healthy species, use tree-attachment bolts instead of lag screws, and allow room for future growth. A qualified treehouse builder or arborist can assess load capacity, ensure safe fastening, and monitor the tree’s health after construction.
The time it takes to build a treehouse depends on its size and complexity, and whether you choose a prefab kit or a custom design. A straightforward child's prefab treehouse can be assembled in as little as two days to a week. More complex designs can take two to six weeks. Adding features like plumbing and electricity can add several days to the project timeline. Building a fully livable treehouse can take anywhere from several months to a year.
The best trees for constructing a treehouse are strong and healthy with a minimum diameter of 12 inches. Ideal choices include maple, oak, hemlock, and fir trees. If suitable trees aren't available, you can install additional support posts to reinforce the structure. Consulting with an arborist or local treehouse builder ensures your site is evaluated correctly and your treehouse is securely anchored.
A well-constructed treehouse can last anywhere from 10 to 25 years or more. The lifespan depends on the quality of the materials used and the extent to which they are maintained. Applying weatherproof treatments to the wood can help extend its lifespan. Keep in mind that treehouses in areas with harsh weather conditions may wear faster than those in milder climates.
Building a treehouse for year‑round living is entirely possible when you address both the technical challenges and the lifestyle benefits head‑on. This project requires a secure design that incorporates superior insulation, integrated plumbing, and robust electrical systems, while also creating a sustainable, minimalist, and eco-friendly retreat. To ensure comfort and safety, invest in enhanced structural supports and adhere to strict code-compliance measures. Professional consultation is essential to transform your treehouse into a secure, full-time living space that incorporates off-the-grid and environmentally conscious design.
Plumbing installation in a treehouse is challenging because it requires unique, engineered solutions for an off‑ground structure. This project requires custom-designed water distribution systems, reinforced connections, and specialized adjustments that exceed the standard requirements for home plumbing. In addition, implementing innovative solutions such as composting toilets, rainwater collection systems, and graywater sinks ensures safe operation, efficient drainage, and sustainable water usage. These measures, when combined with rigorous adherence to building codes, guarantee that your treehouse’s plumbing system operates securely and efficiently.
