"I've never purchased custom blinds before so I didn't quite know what it would cost. My wife and I purchased 15 custom shades (top-down bottom-up) and the total came in around the $4K mark. The sales consultant was very transparent with cost and helped us work through options and explained the outcome. She even gave us general interior design assistance and looked at carpet samples when that contractor arrived! There was an ordering issue for five of our windows. Once identified it didn't take more than a few hours to find a solution. They ended up re-ordering (rush delivery) the correct coverings and even though we technically paid less than we should have the company honored our original quote. It wasn't seamless but their service showed when things went wrong and that's what I'd expect. I'd hire them again."

"He did our house when we purchased it three years ago. We loved everything about his service and came out a few years later to replace all of our window treatment due to a flood and we couldn't be happier with his service."

"Don was able to come out right away. I called about a leaking window and he wound up fixing my kitchen door too. The price was more than fair. He is a true professional and I will use him again..."

"I did my research and had multiple companies provide bids. We were replacing blinds with Plantation shutters in 7 rooms. Chris with Shutters and Woodwork provided the best price and best warranty. Install was today and the installers were very efficient and did a fantastic job. I am in love with my new plantation shutters! Highly Recommend."

"We schedule a meeting to have the project reviewed and quoted. The owners were prompt. After explaining the situation multiple options were presented to us. Owners were upfront about cost as well as forms of payment they would accept, credit/debit cards being one of them. (I have found with most hired companies that it's either cash or check so I was pleased with the option.) Our project was perfatape cracking surrounding one sheetrock on an angled ceiling. The cracks would enlarge during colder days and shrink in warmer days. Prep work was done to cover flooring, window treatments, and furniture in the bedroom surrounding the work area. As Sean began the repair job, he kept us informed of the progress. The repair took a bit longer than expected due to poor original workmanship. That being said, the results turned out great! No more cracks. Since we had the original paint, we opted to paint it ourselves especially since the drywall and texture needed a few days to thoroughly dry. We received a receipt showing the purchased supplies needed to complete the repair. We paid with a credit card and also received a paid receipt. Overall, we are very pleased with the results and workmanship!"

"Faiz was an absolute delight to work with. He made the entire process of getting shades installed in my new home incredibly easy. From the very beginning, he was transparent about pricing and the installation steps, and he walked us through all the different shade options so we could choose exactly what fit our space. He even handled the automated shades flawlessly. I highly recommend Shade Theory for anyone looking for quality shades and a smooth, stress-free experience."

Custom window treatments cost $800 per window, ranging from $150 to $3,000 for materials alone, before labor is factored in. Blinds are the most economical option, while custom curtains and drapes are more expensive due to intricate designs and premium materials. The final cost depends on your style preferences, material quality, and the complexity of the installation.
Mini blinds are the most cost-effective window treatment available, providing efficient light control and exceptional value. They offer the lowest cost option at $600 per set and serve as a dependable solution for budget-conscious homeowners. Roller shades and valances offer cost savings by avoiding premium materials, ensuring that quality design and functional installations remain uncompromised.
Prices increase with larger windows, premium materials, and additional labor for complex installations. High-grade fabrics, hardwoods, intricate designs, and motorized hardware all contribute to the total cost. For instance, drapes run more than Roman shades because they use more fabric and detailing. Still, a well-chosen treatment pays you back in style, privacy, and insulation.
Layering treatments—say, a sheer shade paired with floor-length drapes—adds depth and polish to any room. Sticking to one color family keeps the look cohesive while mixing textures boosts dimension, sound absorption, and energy efficiency. You also gain flexible light control, shifting from full sun to total blackout without swapping hardware.
Energy-efficient window treatments lower energy costs by minimizing heat transfer through advanced fabric technology and design. They block excessive sunlight while maintaining a consistent indoor temperature, thereby reducing the demand on heating and cooling systems. They retain heat in winter and keep your home cool in summer, maintaining year-round comfort and producing measurable savings on electric bills through superior energy management.
Bay, picture, and dormer windows rarely pair well with shutters because their unique shapes demand more flexible coverings. For a cleaner fit and better performance, choose treatments tailored to those dimensions—think custom shades, drapes, or valances that accentuate the architecture instead of competing with it.
