"John Irato with Better Blinds Plus knows his product, and isn't just out to make a sale. Pointed out that while the "best quality" blinds would be perfect for the main floor, we could actually go with a budget look alike downstairs in the "man cave/ office" and guest room. He covers an amazing amount of territory, so his timeliness wasn't the greatest, but who hasn't gotten stuck in unpredictable traffic? Life happens, and he was on top of letting us know his new arrival time the moment he could! If we had more windows, I'd hire him again."

"I would highly recommend Gia's services, she is warm, friendly, personable and extremely professional! She and her business associates were always on point, punctual and courteous, willing to work with me to make sure that everything was exactly as I needed and wanted it! We covered 15 huge condo windows with solar shades, and the cost quoted for the quality of the product and the speed/quality of the install was phenomenal."

"I've never purchased custom blinds before so I didn't quite know what it would cost. My wife and I purchased 15 custom shades (top-down bottom-up) and the total came in around the $4K mark. The sales consultant was very transparent with cost and helped us work through options and explained the outcome. She even gave us general interior design assistance and looked at carpet samples when that contractor arrived! There was an ordering issue for five of our windows. Once identified it didn't take more than a few hours to find a solution. They ended up re-ordering (rush delivery) the correct coverings and even though we technically paid less than we should have the company honored our original quote. It wasn't seamless but their service showed when things went wrong and that's what I'd expect. I'd hire them again."

"Wendy was nice, professional and helpful. I needed a lot of input on identiftying how I could start to mesh the 2 very different styles that have existed since my girlfriend moved in with me. Each room is overfurnished with no cohesive style, and I didn't know where to begin. Wendy was great. As we moved from room to room, I tried to highlight my thoughts for the function of the room, and she would make suggestions for some small and some big adjustments. We covered much more ground than I had anticipated we would in 2 hours.

"I am so happy with A Shade Modern. They came highly recommended to me by a friend and colleague. They were very patient with me as Iâ m very busy and felt too overwhelmed to pick out what I wanted at first, so they were kind enough to leave samples with me and do some design pictures until I was satisfied with my selection. I had a goal in mind of having a very minimal, clean look as we just installed new bronze windows. I didnâ t want the window cartridge to look bulky and take away from the windows when the shades were open, and Amber helped find the perfect bronze cartridge to house the shades when they are rolled-up, so that the bronze cartridge blends seamlessly into the window design. I am SO happy with the results! They were wonderful to work with and I highly recommend them!"

Custom window treatments cost $800 per window, ranging from $150 to $3,000 for materials alone, before labor is factored in. Blinds are the most economical option, while custom curtains and drapes are more expensive due to intricate designs and premium materials. The final cost depends on your style preferences, material quality, and the complexity of the installation.
Mini blinds are the most cost-effective window treatment available, providing efficient light control and exceptional value. They offer the lowest cost option at $600 per set and serve as a dependable solution for budget-conscious homeowners. Roller shades and valances offer cost savings by avoiding premium materials, ensuring that quality design and functional installations remain uncompromised.
Prices increase with larger windows, premium materials, and additional labor for complex installations. High-grade fabrics, hardwoods, intricate designs, and motorized hardware all contribute to the total cost. For instance, drapes run more than Roman shades because they use more fabric and detailing. Still, a well-chosen treatment pays you back in style, privacy, and insulation.
Layering treatments—say, a sheer shade paired with floor-length drapes—adds depth and polish to any room. Sticking to one color family keeps the look cohesive while mixing textures boosts dimension, sound absorption, and energy efficiency. You also gain flexible light control, shifting from full sun to total blackout without swapping hardware.
Energy-efficient window treatments lower energy costs by minimizing heat transfer through advanced fabric technology and design. They block excessive sunlight while maintaining a consistent indoor temperature, thereby reducing the demand on heating and cooling systems. They retain heat in winter and keep your home cool in summer, maintaining year-round comfort and producing measurable savings on electric bills through superior energy management.
Bay, picture, and dormer windows rarely pair well with shutters because their unique shapes demand more flexible coverings. For a cleaner fit and better performance, choose treatments tailored to those dimensions—think custom shades, drapes, or valances that accentuate the architecture instead of competing with it.
