"Ruby took on a challenging project for me , making custom window treatments from pre-manufactured window panels. She did an excellent job. Her work is very professional and they turned out beautifully. She accommodated my busy schedule and made the project enjoyable."

"I never contacted the provider or used this service in anyway. I have to
write this review so that the request to write this review stops
popping up.
The rating is bogus as it is required to be able to submit.

"I want to mention this company, as it is so unusual these days to experience such a polite young man and his coworker. We discussed the project thoroughly, but my husband and I decided to wait. BNF Construction is just getting started, give them a try. I give them 5 stars for their customer service and great attitude."

"The work is good, I really have no complaints. The only issues I ever had were just the usual issues you have with any construction crew, but I would use him again and I would recommend him highly."

"I am rating them according to what they did for us. I do not know how what various skills they might have overall. For us we needed 3 doors installed with 6 9/16 door jambs.2 slabs without frames and one with a standard 4 9/16 jamb (refine). From the point of talking/showing the product to install it was about or over 2 weeks. The bought the generic extender kits which. they had to sand entirely because we wanted to stain. We assumed they knew how to build these jambs and as one piece. The jambs were two pieces on the top, sides and even the threshold. One black against metal for the threshold. We were told we needed brick molding for metal exterior however we did not which was removed by our builder to properly install the metal siding and J-channel. Screws for hingers were picking through on interior framing and sloppy on some doors. Our front door has two loose pieces of wood simply siding at the bottom of each side. If i could provide pictures or videos here I would. We paid them in full but are not happy or satisfied with the final products."

"Very prompt, polite, good work. Needs to be more professional. Amount charged was double what was quoted. Wanted cash instead of check. Needs to establish business here in Kalamazoo so that banking and deposits of customers are not a consideration."
Custom window treatments cost $800 per window, ranging from $150 to $3,000 for materials alone, before labor is factored in. Blinds are the most economical option, while custom curtains and drapes are more expensive due to intricate designs and premium materials. The final cost depends on your style preferences, material quality, and the complexity of the installation.
Mini blinds are the most cost-effective window treatment available, providing efficient light control and exceptional value. They offer the lowest cost option at $600 per set and serve as a dependable solution for budget-conscious homeowners. Roller shades and valances offer cost savings by avoiding premium materials, ensuring that quality design and functional installations remain uncompromised.
Prices increase with larger windows, premium materials, and additional labor for complex installations. High-grade fabrics, hardwoods, intricate designs, and motorized hardware all contribute to the total cost. For instance, drapes run more than Roman shades because they use more fabric and detailing. Still, a well-chosen treatment pays you back in style, privacy, and insulation.
Layering treatments—say, a sheer shade paired with floor-length drapes—adds depth and polish to any room. Sticking to one color family keeps the look cohesive while mixing textures boosts dimension, sound absorption, and energy efficiency. You also gain flexible light control, shifting from full sun to total blackout without swapping hardware.
Energy-efficient window treatments lower energy costs by minimizing heat transfer through advanced fabric technology and design. They block excessive sunlight while maintaining a consistent indoor temperature, thereby reducing the demand on heating and cooling systems. They retain heat in winter and keep your home cool in summer, maintaining year-round comfort and producing measurable savings on electric bills through superior energy management.
Bay, picture, and dormer windows rarely pair well with shutters because their unique shapes demand more flexible coverings. For a cleaner fit and better performance, choose treatments tailored to those dimensions—think custom shades, drapes, or valances that accentuate the architecture instead of competing with it.
