Customers say: True professional

"I needed the ducts cleaned in our home. Gary went above and beyond. I would highly recommend them. He took the time to explain the whole process and did a thorough inspection of the ductwork when they noticed an issue with one of the ducts. they went above and beyond. I would highly recommend them for all your ductwork cleaning. If I could I would give them 10 stars."

"I am new on our Board and I am using companies from those that did excellent work before for our association. We had 2 other options that I was willing to contact but my thoughts were, "why change a good thing". I have records going back maybe 12 years or so and Armstrong was the only company our association used. I suggested to the board that for reliable companies that did excellent work for us in the past, I would like to bypass the usual requirement of 3 estimates as we would have no history on 2 of them. The idea was approved and I hired Armstrong for our recent dryer vent cleanings in the Association. Their work last week was excellent and we could not have had a friendlier and more professional group to work with. In 8 cases out of our 18 units, additional "inside access to the dryer vent was necessary" and we agreed to have Armstrong come back and complete the cleanings at a small additional price. The prices were better than fair in my opinion and obviously, Armstrong represents itself well in the areas of punctuality, efficiency, price, cleanliness and doing the job well. I'm pleased. The remainder of the board is pleased and the only comments I have received from residents were positive. I trust Armstrong and I hope for a continued, long association. They are also licensed here in NH which is a new requirement for our attorney (and me) and I received their certificates within 2 days of requesting them. Overall, great company. I wish all companies for home repairs/maintenance were as pleasant to deal with. The "Cost listed below includes 18 homes with supplemental inside work for 7 units."

"Thank you for a great job you guys did replacing my old rusty oil tank. My experience was pleasant right from the beginning, when Steve showed up on time to inspect my old tank, getting a quote, and all the way to your crew actually replacing it. The crew was knowledgeable, were here when scheduled, and got the job done. Even though they were presented with some unknown technical challenges with my old tank and burner, they worked them all out. Great guys to watch work, and they did a great, neat job, especially considering how dirty of a job it really was. I have in the past, and will continue to recommend you to anybody I know that needs heating or AC work done! Merrill C., Stratham, NH"

"Overall, the ladies did a great job when they were here to clean.  My issue with the service was with the administrative side of things.  I recognize that this is a cleaning service and that my expectations should be somewhat limited, but if I am going to pay a premium for the service, my expectation is that the service I receive is what was sold to me during the "sales phase" of this process.  First, the ladies were supposed to arrive at a certain time each week and, until I complained, that didn't happen.  I'm certain they have record of this given that each lady has a GPS on their van.  The reason this was a big deal was because I adjusted my schedule every week (working full time) to be working from home when they were here because I didn't know them well enough to have them alone in my house.  I was also sold that it was going to be the same ladies each week, but then two weeks in a row, I had two different groups of ladies.  Again, until I said something did they go back to what was promised to me.  This was an important consideration for me when moving to this service and they completely went back on what was promised and never even responded to my first note asking why a new group of ladies came to the house.  It wasn't until I sent a second note about the second group of new ladies did they respond to me.   Had they asked me in advance of sending new people over, I likely would have complied but they were so brazen that they didn't even have the consideration to ask.   Then, one day they showed up but never even knocked on the door so they left the house thinking no one was home and I never got my service that day.  The door was locked, but instead of knocking or calling me (as I was inside the whole time and had adjusted my schedule to be sure I was here), they left.  I really needed them to come that week so it was particularly disappointing and really strange.  The thing that actually stuck in my craw the most was when I had them lined up to clean the snow off my roofs and instead of coming the day they said they were going to come, they came  a day or two days later.  I had someone else who I really liked and trusted prepared to come the next day, but because they said they would be right over that day, I went with them.  They actually made me answer quickly so that they could tell the guy if he should come to do the job that day.  I was really worried about ice dams so every day mattered.  It was a complete bait and switch.  I never even found out that they had not come that day because I left for vacation shortly after I lined them up to come that afternoon.  That was also why there was urgency on my side...because any ice dam issues that arose during my vacation could have been particularly disastrous.  That is how I found out they never showed the day that was promised.  When I was clearly irritated in my text back to them, I received a response suggesting I didn't need to be rude. It was really unbelievable considering they were the ones in the wrong.  The least they could have done was to say they didn't make it that day and would it still be ok to come the next day (or two days later).   <br /> So, the bottom line is that the ladies are great and If they were on their own, I would hire them for sure, but they are not and this service was so frustrating in my opinion and absolutely not worth the premium price given the aggravation factor alone that I had to discontinue with their service. <br /> I have never provided a bad review of anyone, but this experience was so irritating and I felt so "sold" and given that this is the whole idea behind Angie's list, I felt compelled to provide this review.  Further, I think this service is best left to commercial type jobs versus houses.  That's just my sense of their service and pricing... <br />"

FAQs for air ducts & vents cleaning service projects in Acton, ME

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that air duct cleaning is not required unless visible issues such as mold buildup, rodent droppings, or excessive dust are present. When such conditions exist, cleaning becomes essential to protect indoor air quality and maintain HVAC efficiency. This approach minimizes potential health risks and extends the system’s life.

Air ducts must be cleaned every three to five years as required by NADCA to preserve system efficiency and indoor air quality. The EPA insists that cleaning is necessary only when significant issues such as mold, pest infestations, or heavy dust accumulation are evident. Annual inspections by a certified professional promptly address any emerging concerns.

The ideal seasons for air duct cleaning are spring and fall. Cleaning during these periods prepares your HVAC system for the demands of both winter heating and summer cooling. These seasons provide moderate weather conditions that enable efficient service completion while minimizing disruption, ensuring your system performs at its peak.

Professional air duct cleaning takes a fixed duration of two to five hours, depending on the home’s size and the complexity of the duct system. Smaller residences with standard ductwork complete the service in two hours, while larger homes with extensive ducts require up to five hours. Additional repairs may extend this duration.

To prepare for professional air duct cleaning, ensure all vents are unobstructed by moving nearby furniture and clearing pathways. Secure any pets in a safe area and confirm that your HVAC system units are easily accessible for technician inspection. Proper preparation contributes to a higher quality service outcome and prevents delays, allowing the cleaning process to proceed efficiently.
